We'd also like to point out that, originally from a remote Tatar village, Sadri Maksudi graduated from the law faculty of the Sorbonne University, was a professor at the universities of Paris, Ankara, and Istanbul, was the head of the independent state of Idel-Ural-Siberia (November 1917), a member of the Russian and Turkish parliaments, an advisor to the first president of Turkey, Ata Türk, and himself ran for president of Turkey.

Sadri Maksudi's main research interest is the history of Turkic law.
His life credo is "Ireklek kham insanlyk" (Freedom and Humanity).
