Wowoweewow. What a doozy. Hey! I just posted a candid, hour-long Q&A video sharing my thoughts on the Book of Mormon. I talk about what it means for Christian theology, how LDS apologists interact with it, and how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints compares to other religious movements. Go check it out—exclusively on my Patreon.

I’ve heard if you want to spice it up a little bit you can replace “and it came to pass” with “and I shit you not”.

I got a Mormon ad on this video. Funny cuz i live in Estonia, where the Mormon population is somewhere between 6 people and 3 goats

Jared's not getting his own planet after making this video.

an atheist critiquing a holy book not because its not true, but cause of its LOST POTENTIAL just made my year

As an ex-mormon... imagine your parents waking you up before 6:00 AM every day to read this book aloud with the entire family. Because that was my childhood.

Edit: I never claimed to have the most traumatic childhood ever. All I'm saying is if you think this book is boring now, it's even more boring as a child at the crack of dawn. Some of yall need to relax.

And it came to pass that Jared finished the Book of Mormon, yea, verily his eyes were exceeding sore

Damn Joseph Smith really went and made a Bible DLC expansion pack

And it came to pass, a Christian came across this video, and verily it pleased his senses to a great degree, and it came to pass that he was entertained, and he found it amusing. And verily he said unto himself, "I shall subscribe, for I am amused, and this man is entertaining". So it came to pass that he subscribed, for he was entertained and amused

I was curious and looked it up, the phrase "it came to pass" is written 1430 times in the Book of Mormon or 2.5% of the book.

As an exmormon, I actually appreciate the disclaimer at the beginning. Mormons tend to see all discussion that can be seen as critical as hateful, so beginning a video like that goes a long way to nullify that.

I love how he talks ab this book like he’s a reader who’s upset it’s a letdown in a popular saga of fictional literature. Oh wait.

Joseph Smith is the L. Ron Hubbard of the 19 century. 😊

@Effi_Bee 1 year ago

I love how he's giving Joseph Smith writing advice, like they're in a meeting talking about his fantasy novel XD

@mizziepet 1 year ago

talking about it like its literally just fanfic is so fucking funny

@AC-sh3pi 1 year ago

I love your realism. I’ve never heard gnostic texts described as ‘Jesus fanfiction’ before — made me laugh out loud.

17 million Mormons? You realize that you’re counting drunks that got baptized in random countries during 19-year-olds missionary excursions.

as an exmormon, I'm so happy to see a never-mormon discover that mormonism isn't found in the book of mormon.

Mad props to Jared for voluntarily reading this. I have two degrees in English literature, and regularly read Shakespeare and ginormous eighteenth and nineteenth century novels for fun. And I literally could not get more than three pages into the Book of Mormon before my eyes started to glaze over.
