It Conquered The World (1956) (Restored Digital Transfer in Hi-Fi Stereo Remixed in 2.0 Stereo - SP RCA & Columbia Pictures Home Video VHS to DVD-R Rip Converted in 1080p Hi-Def) [4.95GB]
Producer Roger Corman's 7th movie as a Producer and his 6th as a Director. Roger Corman is a legend now and this B-Movie Sci-Fi-Thriller quickie is one of his best and now considered a cult classic and has yet to receive it's proper dues on DVD and or Blu-Ray. Which I know the story of that which I can reveal when I do a movie commentary on it sometime this year or early next year. The film's budget was between $50,000 and $100,000 and was shot in a quick 5 days. It has a great cast of favorites of mine including, Peter Graves, Beverly Garland, Lee Van Cleef, Sally Fraser, Russ Bender, Jonathan Haze and Dick Miller. Peter Graves is a favorite actor of mine so are Cleef, Haze and Miller. If I had to pick out of all my favorites are Graves who was the real life younger brother of famed actor James Arness so yes really Peter Graves (Arness) who I have a ton of things he made 12 that is including his narration on ''Bigfoot, The Mysterious Monster '76 and others I may have as such. The leading woman Beverly Garland was one of the sexiest and best actresses ever to grace the silver and tv. screen she was a name and pretty famous in the industry. She made lots of good films I have also some television she made other films for Roger Corman also such as ''Swamp Woman'' '56, Gunslinger '56, "Not Of This Earth'' '57 and ''Naked Paradise '57''. I have about 20 things she did including these Corman films. Lee Van Cleef was huge in Noir Movies in the 1950's as a heavy as part of a mob till he did this Corman film this was his only substantial role till he did the two Sergio Leone Westerns with Clint Eastwood in the mid 60's. I have 10 movies he made total including this film. Sally Fraser was a beauty and a very good actress and I have about 5 of her credits. Jonathan Haze was also a Corman regular and I have about 10 he made for Roger. Dick Miller who was a regular Roger Corman stock actor and also did many other famous roles including Gremlins 1 & 2. Too many I have he made lol. He seemed to jump around a lot in his career and a Documentary in 2014 was released about him called ''That Guy Dick Miller''.
The film was on a Double with another A.I.P. Sci-Fi Cult Classic Directed by the master of low-budget himself Edward L. Chan and Paul again made the monster and wore the suit. The film was ''The She-Creature'' The Monster of Creature in this case comes from Venus. Venus has vegetable life and also low gravity, so it was designed in the look of a huge cucumber or carrot alien monster and was dubbed ''Beulah''. The creature was originally the size of a football and Beverly Garland the leading lady as I stated above. Legend has it she kicked it said to Corman ''That conquered the world'' and laughed. So Corman had the man behind the creature re-design it to a 10-foot tall one built around a balsa wood frame sculpted and made out of foam and latex rubber which the eyes glowed Paul used a also moved and the huge nasty teeth and gigantic lobster like claw arms. The Claws also moved but broke during production and time was not available to fix that. Paul was under this construction controlling it as well. The audience and or crew laughed that upset Paul I never did when they first showed that in the cave my body chills. I also believe Paul also said to Roger it should not come out of the cave it will look stupid. Roger didn't care said I want that too lol. Paul did more too very talented sculptor and artist. Bob Burns who I like too a fan and film historian and collects original props from these films said it was amazing watching Paul work as he was assistant years, and they started the fan club in the 60's with Paul's wife Jackie. Sadly, Paul died in the early 80's of stomach cancer at only age 55. 🙁 Though diehard fans as me of 1950's Sci-Fi and Horror Monster Thrillers know this man, he was an unsung hero as Elvira said on the Mini Documentary that use to be on YouTube. I always keep Paul's memory alive and spread the knowledge around about this man. I have about 12 films he made, and I will end on that note as I am an artist myself since a kid and this guy made some of the best 1950's Sci-Fi and Horror Monsters in the business at A.I.P. and A.A.
