Memories of a Picton Train Schoolboy of the 60's. Climbing in the old wooden rail viaduct above the camping ground, beating the train to Elevation  on the bike after missing it leave Picton, caps thrown out tthe carriage window. Ah, the Picton School Train!!

I travelled this trip frequently way back in the 50's and. 60's. But of course we never had this view from the cabbage train. It is such a different trip than the current road trip.

Nice vid. My word how Picton has changed since I took the money and left in 1990. Nice town. We loved the 6 years we had there. It was hard to imagine how the yard looked back in my time there.

This was my first ride on New Zealand's South Island and it will not be my last, stuck in the UK with mobility/health problems these cab rides enable me to roam the world's railways and I thank the maker of this one for all the hard work and your time. Long may you roll.

How wonderful to see this ride, as an NZR cadet 40 years ago I walked the same rails on a day trip from Wellington. Took me 4-1/2 hours but I wasn't in a great hurry - a lot quicker in the guards van on the way back! It's amazing how little it has changed.

I used to live in Picton from 2013 to 2016, and nearly every day would make the trip between Picton and Blenheim and would occasionally see KiwiRail heading out with us.
I also used to ride my skateboard around the waterfront and then hang out at the railway station, and watch KiwiRail do all their shunting in the marshalling yard whenever the ferries would come in.

Just can't beat that V12 sound !!!

As you can imagine.. as kid.. I loved going to work and driving these monsters..
