Tres Amigos 26.12 | How Elko's Defense Shut Down Arkansas & The "Sonic & Knuckles" Backfield
Tres Amigos - Aggie Football Podcast
2,743 views
Matt Folmar, Seth Drennan, and CoastAg are back for Episode 26.12 to break down a shockingly stress-free Texas A&M victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks!
Before getting into the film, the guys give a shoutout to Chinook Seedery and their "Seeds for Soldiers" program (make sure to check them out and support our troops!).
On offense, the Aggies finally committed to the run game with a 2-to-1 run-pass ratio. The guys rave about the "Sonic & Knuckles" true freshman backfield duo of KJ Edwards (#0) and Carsyn Baker (#22). We also break down Marcel Reed's (#10) improved pocket presence, Collin Klein's highly effective use of "Slide Routes" to get the ball to playmakers like Ashton Bethel-Roman (#8) and TK Norman (#18) in space, and massive blocking highlights from young tight end Kiotti Armstrong (#9).
Defensively, it was an absolute masterclass from Mike Elko and Jay Bateman. The guys dive into the tape to show how simulated pressures and dropped 3-high shells completely confused KJ Jefferson and the Arkansas passing attack. Plus, big praise for Noah Mikhail (#0) blowing up power runs, CJ Mims (#92) playing heavy inside, and Marco Jones (#10) bringing the heat off the edge.
Finally, Seth brings us into the College Football Film Room to look at Utah's QB Counter and Chip Kelly running the Wing-T for 400+ yards at Northwestern!
