I had a cat years ago who my husband didn’t like, so they avoided each other. Then he got really sick. That cat decided it was his job to take care of that human, and adopted him, always staying no more than an arm’s length away. It took awhile, but my husband learned it was an honor, and they became great friends. several years later, my husband got cancer. By the time it got to stage four, the cat had gotten cancer, too. The cat got to where he wasn’t eating or drinking or bathing anymore, then my husband also took a turn for the worse. That cat made himself get up and eat so he’d have the energy to jump up onto his human’s lap where they lay together, comforting each other in their misery. Two weeks later, the cat couldn’t hold on any longer and died. My husband died 20 days later. It was the most beautiful relationship I’d ever witnessed.
My grandmother had a theory, and I believe it. She said cats sleep with you because they think if you're lying there for so long, you might be sick and they love you and want to protect you from predators until you're up and about and feeling better. In the nursing home, we saw the community cat go into the rooms of residents who were passing, and stay with them to comfort and guide them through those last hours. Cats are small angels. Remember that, and never mistreat them.
I adopted a feral cat, and I wasn't able to pet her for 4 years, but I just let her do her thing. After about a year or two after that, she would climb up on the bed with me, she would climb up on my back and put her head on my head. At first, I would wake up when she did that. After a while, I didn't even bother waking up. That feral cat, was my companion for 17 years
I lost my husband to cancer two years ago, and the sudden silence in this house was unbearable at night. My sweet boy, a tabby named Chester, had always slept at the foot of our bed. But the very first night I had to sleep alone, he moved up, wiped away a tear with his little paw, and slept pressed completely against my chest. He felt my crushing grief before I even understood it myself. He hasn't left my side a single night since. They are truly little guardian angels.
I adopted a supposed feral, 5 months old. Once I'd earned his trust he become my shadow. One night he woke me up at 4am by yowling at the top of his lungs. It turned out I was having a heart attack. I gave him a home and he's repayed me in full and more. I love him & owe him so much ❤ bless him.
I adopted a shelter cat for free because the shelter was overloaded. She lives a great life now, we spoil her she spoils us. Be sure to adopt and don't ever abandon them 🙏
My son is on the spectrum & wanted a cat so we got him one, it’s his cat in every sense of the word. They are the best of buds and he never slept W me until I began chemo. The day I got home from my first treatment we all noticed the difference immediately. He followed me around, sat in my lap & laid in my chest the entire time I was in bed from treatments. When I had my double mastectomy he stopped laying in my chest & began laying on my legs or to the side of my chest. Here we are, just finishing up my 2nd surgery & he now splits his nights between myself & my son. Cats are truly amazing.
My cat actually did fight off an intruder. Red point Siamese Racoco always slept with me but he started laying on me like he was a guard for a few days. Turns out some homeless man had started sleeping in my yard by my bedroom window. Coco was not liking that at all.. He would growl at the window, and i didnt see or hear nothing. Until one day my indoor only cat who never runs outside without his harness( yes he wore one on our walks) One even my brother came over and coco ran out so fast, straight to that man in the bushes and attacked him… man started screaming help some one get this cat..i rushed outside and dude started running away and coco chased him down the street.. jumping ninja kicks on dude like a wall
Not trying to be morbid or see attention, but years ago, I was in a really bad way. I’ve even wrote a story about it, but my cat jumped on my chest when I was about ready to give up on life and she looked me right in the eyes and it gave me an excuse to keep going because she was saying don’t give up on me and I said that wouldn’t be right. Who’s gonna feed her? Honestly, my cats been my best friend in the world more days than I could imagine. Thank you for this great video. It explained very many things. Love you kilo that’s my cat.
I'm 1 minute and 29 seconds in, I've got tears in my eyes. My cat died when she was 8, almost 8 years ago now and for 7 years of her life she spent it sleeping next to me. I lived in a hostile DV situation and having her feel safest with me fills my heart. I'm glad I made her feel safe.
Since my husband passed away last year, my sleep schedule has been an absolute mess from the grief. His 12 year old rescue, Oliver, used to be so active at dawn and dusk. But recently, I noticed he completely shifted his entire routine just to sleep exactly when I do. Hearing that he is literally overriding thousands of years of evolution and his natural crepuscular instincts just to mirror my schedule and be available when I need him brings me to absolute tears. He rewrote his own biology just to keep my lonely heart company.
