3500 in Philly is a crazy high budget! congrats

For that budget you could get a row home and have a cheaper mortgage lol. That being said, my first apartment 12 years ago in philly also came to me as a miracle after the many horror listings that I toured. I've now lived all over Philly and ultimately ended up back in south philly where I started, in my new house. No private parking, but after a decade of learning how to make parking work for you in phily, its not an issue for me. Hope you enjoy the Philly life :]

I LOVE Philadelphia, I visited every year for my entire childhood. My father grew up in Camden(I know,it's awful now but it wasn't when he lived there, relatives have all moved now). My great aunt lived in Philly and we would visit all the time. I'm going to follow you because you will fill that nostalgia for that lovely city that I'm craving.

Look in Germantown, Bella Vista, East Falls...established neighborhoods and homes/apts with actual charm.

I def think you’d be much happier in south Philly than port Richmond- Kensington area.
They are pretty far out and not really as walkable as other neighborhoods
I’m in east passyunk - 98% walking score! It’s the best.
I didn’t realize you were here last week adoring the heat wave. It was brutal and of course now it’s back to 60° this week.

Make sure you take advantage of the summer street festivals when you move! Philly is a great walkable city food is amazing as well!

What section/neighborhood did you choose? Welcome to Philly! I love it.

Everyone seems to live in Fairmount/Spring garden at some point. Safe, walkable…..

Confession. I have lived in the Philadelphia suburbs my whole life (61) and, I couldn’t tell you anything about where to live or what’s good or bad. That said, every young person I know (friends kids) all live there in all different locations. I always hear Manayunk is the fun place to live. There are so many bars and restaurants in Philadelphia so you won’t starve. LOL!!! Good luck!

We lived in LA and we could literally walk to the mall, grocery store, trader Joe's and multiple restaurants and bars .😅

How weird that you think an apartment is basically too good for you!

Too much $!

Are you calling everything an apartment just because? We have rowhomes here, which are very proud, and it appears you toured a couple.

You’re going to want to make friends with public transportation, too, if you don’t have a car. Between trollies, elevated rail, busses, underground trains, etc., we have you covered.

The first jawn you toured looked like that new Northbank neighborhood. You’re tripping if you think that’s secluded. You’re pushed right up against Fishtown and can get to Girard Avenue rather quickly which puts you right at Northern Liberties, too.

Fishtown and Northern Liberties are probably the two hottest neighborhoods for young professionals in the city. Hipster is the name they give them.
