I like Lee Roy Murphy . Came from poverty , boxed became a cruiser weight champ , got out when he knew it was time , became a sheriff in Chicago and was a loving family man and socially concerned for the poor . I'd say he is the everyday regular guy's success story .
For those who saw him as an amateur, it was clear he peaked early. Between the Olympics being boycotted, the cruiserweight division being the minor leagues back then, and the lack of respect he got, he just checked out mentally. But he was a massive talent.
Your music selection is the best. You have excellent taste in music. Did you choose the music or someone else. Do you have a playlist of the music in your videos? I have been watching your videos for years but never really noticed the music until recently. Would very much appreciate more information on your musical choices. Thanks again
I remember seeing his name in ring magazine I thought he was from Ireland 🇮🇪. Cause cruiserweight got no air time on ABC or espn in early early 80s. Glad u did this so I can learn little about him
“When the going gets tough, the Tough get going!” Murphy, an unknown, … what a tough customer! Too bad he didn’t have the connections and a promoter behind him. Thank you Rich for gathering this footage and bringing some of his days of glory to our appreciative eyes. Yet, in the same breath, it’s sad to see, Thank You, Rich !! 🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭. Hope you are ok Murphy!!! Thank you for your courage entering that ring!God Bless You!😂
Fighters deserve a ring pension!!! Here’s positive proof!
I grew up with him and remembering he had the biggest hands as kids. He was a fighter I thought but that Olympic thing messed him up. He did have a tendency to put on weight but all in all he had a nice career. I really thought he really didn't know how good he was. Great Doc on my boy Murph
