I am so glad someone is reviewing these because these AI videos are kind of nuts. There's no way everyone can do all this as often as said.

@Pebble-With-a-Pen 13 days ago

another thing with these AI videos (and pop psychology content in general) is that they tend to paint certain, slightly more palatable disorders, as though they're actually superpowers in disguise, and other disorders with less "pretty" symptoms are demonized and treated as though anyone with that condition must be an emotionless monster.

The one video makes trauma look like a superpower it is not . it is exhausting . It is like you never leave survival mode

I am glad they let Dr. Bender out of his practice at Arkham Asylum to do this video

@EveSmit-w3u 2 weeks ago

as someone with ptsd the one about "'super natural patern recognition" feels like an insult, it isn't a super power, it's torture

the (subjective) biggest danger of AI is the “death of truth” videos like these can/will lead too

@mindfuladdiction 3 weeks ago

The sad part is, it doesn’t take a Psychiatrist to comprehend that none of those videos made sense anyway. Yet people pay attention to what they want to see and hear, not to what is true.

Hypervigilance is freaking EXHAUSTING!!

I like how AI put the prefrontal cortex somewhere more in the middle, rather than in the prefrontal region. Good job, AI.

“People who are really anxious have a lot of ruminations, and it’s actually because they’re really lonely. Sometimes that ruminative language is almost keeping them company.”

This is such a revelation holy crap

Don't rely on a random number/phrase/video generator for your mental health.
In fact, don't rely on random number/phrase/video generator for anything.

I have inattentive ADHD, and I have to say, it's not that I CAN'T pay attention. I mean, sometimes my attentiveness drifts, yes, but sometimes, I'm totally paying attention, but information just doesn't stick in my brain, so sometimes I need information to be repeated. Not because I didn't understand it, not because I wasn't paying attention, but just because my brain didn't hold onto it.

This isn’t just ai powered, I remembered seeing some of this “advice” back before covid on brightly colored social media posts. Misinformation isn’t just made by a machine.

I'm impressed he said saber-toothed cat instead of tiger. That's not the focus of the video but all the more reason to be impressed.

I think the "If you hate everyone, eat, if you think everyone hates you, sleep" thing, isnt so much a rule, but more like steps in troubleshooting.

im so glad that arkham asylum gave a day pass to doctor crane so that he could come make this video to help us

I feel like what he said at 25:43 is really interesting: the fact that people use AI for mental health assistance because finding a quality therapist/psychiatrist is expensive and not an easy process. I wish that we could've heard his thoughts on how that could be solved.

@GDsWatermeat 2 weeks ago

I've heard the phrase "If you feel like you hate everyone, eat. If you feel like everyone hates you, drink water. If you feel like you hate yourself, shower" before, and it's KIND OF useful in a roundabout way since when you're in a depressive mood you DO often neglect to eat, drink water, and shower. It doesn't necessarily help the feelings but it does help you take care of yourself!

To be fair, the "feel like you hate everyone, eat; feel like everyone hates you, sleep; feel overwhelmed by thoughts or feelings, write them down" thing came off tumblr. It was one person making a post about what worked for them, and a lot of people agreed. And I do get inordinately pissed at people and situations when I'm hungry and haven't noticed. And if you're tired, you're more likely to ruminate on negative things, so sleeping (if able) helps on that level. At least that's in MY experience and mileage may vary.

ETA: The rest of that video came out of left field, the original only had the "eat, sleep, write" part.
