Animated by myself over six years and co-directed by Claudia "Maki" Montealegre, this short film is a tribute to both Ridley Scott's Alien and classic 80s anime alike. I hope you enjoy it! - Paul

Thankyou all for your very kind comments. I'm glad the film could brighten your day a little bit.

The fact that it is accurately quiet during the space scene goes really well with the "In space no one can hear you scream" tagline.

That 80-90 style anime animation
such a rare gold

Man, the alien reveal was so good. Him just sitting there completely silent was way more scary and unsettling than a cheap jump scare.

Poor captain, talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed...

Someone give this man a 10 year contract and an entire animation studio fully staffed NOW. This is incredible

I like how she's immediately just like, "screw the ship"

It went so quickly from "that kitchen must stink" to "don't go in there".

Funny how Disney trying to do a series for millions of dollars, while some random dude does 100× better story in his spare time 😂

I feel bad for the dude that just woke up from his hibernation pod, soon as he wakes up the first thing he sees is an alien ready to eat him

OtaKing is like a comet. It takes a really long time for it to appear, rarely if ever. But when it does, everyone gathers to watch.

I love that she's not all "I need to save everyone", she assessed the situation and went "It's all gotta go". Smartest horror protag of all time!

Sorry I cannot give more, but I want to thank you with every fiber of my being for actually getting the sound of "space helmet POV" right. In space, the only one who can hear you scream is yourself. No dramatic music, no alien squeals, just your own panic rising with desperation to your own ears inside a bubble. The horror of "you're truly alone" personified.
Bravo! Please tell the voice actors that they did an incredible job as well.

This is why you have internal security. Not being notified when you have contaminants on the ship is a really big deal.

Man, the Captain went out in one of the worst ways possible. Not even allowed to get his bearings first.

As for Ashlyn, unless there’s an emergency cryo unit on that drill vehicle, she’s more or less screwed. Slowly watching your oxygen run out sounds almost as bad as being hunted by a xenomorph.

I think that little smile at the end is her great sense of humor, even in perhaps the last hours of her life, that at least she won't die on a Monday.

I'm getting a lot of questions asking "is this AI?". It's all hand drawn with a bit of hand-shaded 3D modeling and no AI was used (nor will it ever be). If you're curious how I did it, have a l look at: https://youtu.be/H7c_iHBgPVw

Honestly the feeling of space is well captured here, the lack of music actually enhances the emptiness of space.

In reality all you’d hear is your breath, your thoughts and ship noises.

I wish there was a mini series of independent stories in the Alien Universe
