Everyone seems to think that the Manson murders where the turning point of the hippie movement, but the zodiac seems I'm more poignant representation of what Hunter Thompson was talking about with the death of the 60s naivete, and the monstrous wave that the movement became

I bet most of these guys were killers, just not the zodiac killer.

Are we certain that the print in the cab came from the Zodiac, and not from a passer-by, a cop, a medic, etc? I don't see how we can be.

I’ve always liked the theory that Allen and Kane were working together.  It would explain most of the discrepancies. I still laugh at how they DNA tested the outside of the stamp!  Who put that idiot in charge?! Hahaha 🤦🏼‍♂

Have we solved the Zodiac........again?!

Just as in the GSK case, it will be someone hiding in plain view and none of these suspects will be him.

The biggest problem I have with the alleged conversation Don Cheney and ALA had about him killing people and becoming Zodiac, etc. is how their friendship ended. ALA allegedly molested his young daughter which is easy to believe since he was fired from his teaching position and later commited to Atascadero (mental hospital) for the same reason. Cheney had lots of motive to make up a story about his ex friend being Zodiac.

Facts:
DNA did not eliminate Arthur Leigh Allen nor anyone else because the DNA sample was contaminated due to forensic mishandling. Furthermore, the sample came from the front of a stamp on a letter that had been handled by countless people. Fingerprints did not eliminate Arthur Leigh Allen. FBI files say that Allen's fingerprint samples were both incomplete and so poor that they couldn't be used to match or exclude him. Handwriting analysis is pseudoscience. It can't be legitimately used to match or exclude anyone. Arthur Leigh Allen's trailer was searched but his actual home (the basement of his mother's house) was not searched for years.

Police dispatcher Nancy Slover ID'ed multiple people as having been the post Blue Rock Springs phone caller to Vallejo Police Department. Slover was highly suggestible. Put in this context, her ID of Lawrence Kane's voice is worthless.  She couldn't even remember for sure what the caller said in the very brief phone call.

Officer Donald Fouke is not only not a good witness, he's a very questionable witness. We don't even know for sure if he saw Stine's killer or anyone else. He didn't file his report until a month after the crime, which is unheard of. He then claimed to have seen a white male of Welsh ancestry (!) moving in a "shuffling lope" (impossible) along the sidewalk several blocks from the crime scene. He described the man's attire in great detail despite later saying the police car was moving at 40 MPH along the poorly lit road. The report ends with Fouke's claim that his partner may not have seen the man at all. Significantly, his partner did not sign the report. Years later in a videotaped interview, Fouke claimed that the man walked up the walkway toward a house at a specific address he named in the interview. As for the claim that the dispatcher had initially said to be on the lookout for a black man and this was Fouke's excuse for not stopping the white man he claimed to have seen, only two people ever claimed to have heard that dispatch and the other one, Officer Pelissetti, also has low credibility. Years later (but, significantly, it was not in his filed report), Pelissetti claimed that Fouke told him that night about the man he had seen.  Neither told the officers in charge of the joint police/military manhunt (the search included the adjacent Presidio army base) about the man Fouke claimed to have seen. The two (not three) teenagers who said they saw Stine's killer saw him from the third story of a building across the street not, as you claimed, from the same distance Fouke claimed to have seen the man who, he said was walking down the sidewalk as he drove past him.

The Stine crime scene was not secured and civilian looky-loos, cops not involved in the case who showed up as looky-loos and an ambulance crew swarmed the scene. At a bare minimum, an ungloved crime scene photographer and ungloved (at that time even ambulance crew members didn't wear gloves) detectives and ambulance crew members opened the cab doors. Stine's body was moved in the cab between photos, examined by detectives to determine that he was dead and hauled out of the cab by the ambulance crew, all of which probably got blood on their hands. Any of them could have left the bloody prints.

Victim Darlene Ferrin's sister is not remotely credible. She has made numerous contradictory claims over the years.

Exactly when and where (link, please) did Bryan Hartnell ever say that Lawrence Kane's voice was that of the man talking to him through the mask at Lake Berryessa? Lawrence Kane had a heavy Brooklyn accent. To the best of my knowledge, Hartnell never said anything about a remotely similar accent.

By far the most important fact is that there is zero --as in none, nada, zip--hard evidence that proves that the letter writer(s) committed any of the physical crimes. The witnesses for three of the four canonical crimes (there were no witnesses to the first crime) described distinctly different looking men ranging from 180 to 250 lbs, 5'8" to 6'1", 25-45 years old, reddish-blond crewcut to dark brown to black to grey hair.

Multiple FBI files say that San Francisco Police Inspector (ie. detective) Dave Toschi, who was the lead detective in the Stine case, wrote multiple Zodiac letters as confirmed to the FBI by the San Francisco Police Chief.

The lesson of Zodiac is don't allow so many genuinely evil people in your society that when there is a series of murders you have an absurd number of viable suspects

I'm sorry but I don't see how that dispatcher could remember the voice of someone she spoke to briefly years before. Maybe I'm wrong. But I don't see it. I talk to people on the phone and if you asked me years later if I could recognize their voice.... I don't think I could.

Cases like this make me sjake my head because a lot of people looked at in them - these people lived on, had lives after the murders.

A killer like Zodiac doesn't just stop.  They pause, they take a break - but they return.  Look at BTK, he took a king break and them went back to it.

Something had to happen that Zodiak stopped killing.  He died, was incapable or locked up (be it jail or an institution).

Anyone who never killed, never taunted the police years later (another way to get a thrill when you can't run around murdering), never did anything - isn't the killer.

I've always wondered if the taxi driver murder was somehow not linked to the zodiac, as if some major piece of evidence was overlooked or interpreted wrongly. Something we just can't see because we've accepted facts that may have been mistakes at the time

If the fingerprints at the cab scene is not the zodiacs this all looks very different, and considering they didn't even get the race of the perpetrator right at the time it is not beyond imagination that someone on the scene ended up being sloppy and leaving a bloody fingerprint that didn't belong to zodiac, a man who was certainly smart enough to avoid leaving such evidence. So if we leave out the fingerprint Allen starts to look a lot more probable especially considering
DNA on the outside of a stamp is useless, and handwriting analysis is far from scientific..., we're using tools that are far beyond and imperfect and trying to make them match
