I spent five years building my childhood
friend's startup into a million-dollar empire
without taking a single sick day. This
morning, my termination letter was left on
my desk. Fine by me. It took me exactly
ten minutes to wipe my proprietary software,
pack my desk, and walk out. But right at the
lobby doors, his new fiancée blocked my
path. She looked completely innocent.
"Um, firing his first love was just a little
show for my parents. You can come back
to work as my assistant now

It's not true that she had no warning. Zero equity in five years was a huge red flag. 😮

He was so arrogant that he never even tried to understand what she did or meant to the company. He destroyed his company through ignorance. I think in a way she was lucky to be fired. It was a wake-up call. It forced her to reassess her life. Good girl

Inconsistent plot. She erased her proprietary data but didn't know it was proprietary until she got a call later? She accepted a job with a rival company but also built her own?

It would have been super easy to negotiate a deal with her for her software. I'm sure she would have been willing to leave if they were giving her a nice chunk of money and then some ongoing licencing payments with something that everyone agreed with.

Walking away is enough. Never burn a bridge. Just watch carefully if one ever ends up in this situation

She knew it was proprietary and she owned it but was surprised when the lawyer told her this later.

Talking to him, she closed the door. Then looked at him and talked to him afterwards.

Should have given her a heads up so she would be in the loop

He blew up his company, basically on a dare? Kinda a funny karma story.

It's funny to me as I've been there...the people I worked for thought I did next to nothing on 3rd shift..until I was let go over a "fight" my managers didn't want to have/support with senior managment....I received calls/emails asking me how I was able to keep 3 seperate sites disaster supplies up/running on a real time basis on top of what my normal job entailed...and now they had no idea how to do it with me being gone...

Why would u put that much into a company without getting partnership

@sandybratzel4384 1 month ago

This is exactly why, when IT folk are fired/let go, they are escorted to their office/desk, watched while they pack up their belongings, and are escorted out of the building. Oh, and their access to the network/email is immediately revoked too.

How can she look at him again after closing door?

After 10 min. I stopped.
I can't cope with a gaming app running as back ground.
What a stupid idea

What is an empty badge? And how do you ring a phone faster?

Never had enough self worth or societal value to take advantage of. I am a 42 year old with a 137 intelligence score who is jobless. I never had a job more important than a paper route. A town chooses who has value and who does not.
