She's singing "I'd cry my eyes violet, Elizabeth Taylor" because Elizabeth Taylor had VIOLET EYES. 💜💜💜 Taylor did get permission from Elizabeth Taylor's Estate, to write and release this song.
Another thing about Elizabeth Taylor is that's she's been married a LOT of times. I'm not sure the exact number but it's definetely over 5 men.
Taylor isn't related to her. She just loved her and her movies.
This song started with a conversation between her and Travis about Elizabeth Taylor. She was telling him stories and about her career and Taylor said that the line "If your letters ever said goodbye... I'd cry my eyes violet, Elizabeth Taylor". Then she made a voice clip and that was the beginning of the song. The whole song was structured around that ONE line. Taylor does that a lot.
Same with the song you listened to first, Blank Space. All of the trash magazines were saying that she devours men and goes through them like crazy. and she just throws them out, and write a song about it.... and then pulls another in, etc. Just slamming her over everything. And Taylor thought, "I can get behind this narrative" and wrote "Blank Space" for all the people that talked shit about her.
