When the sound design is a main character...ominous personified.

You guys keep surprising me with the banger picks

I rewatch this show at least once a year. The acting, the sets, it's all so so good.

The sound design and scoring of this show is *genius*. They way they use the real sounds from inside reactors and Geiger counters to escalate the tension is so inventive.

Another couple of movies that really dive into the power of using sound, where sound (or lack thereof) becomes almost its own character, are Arrival and Zone of Interest.

"the viewers gonna hate that phrase before it's over" we spent 6 months saying "not great, not terrible" all day every day, I think you can be forgiven 😂

This series was by far the most riveting, intense, heartbreaking and well written series I think I've ever watched.

You know how you get on a roller coaster, and you s-l-o-w-l-y climb to this FRIGHTENING height... And you start down this HUGE first drop and you feel your stomach going into your throat, and things are going faster and faster, and the world feels like it's gone insane...... And then the bottom comes at just the right moment, and you feel that relief, and maybe even let out a laugh and enjoy the rest of the ride?

Yeah... There's no bottom with this one.

The emergency phone call and subsequent press report were real footage

ANOTHER banger... I love that you guys immediately understand the implications of the danger... some reactors have zero clue.. but not these gents

Along with Band of Brothers, this is the best miniseries ever. Looking forward to watching you guys with it.

Fun fact; 3.6 Roetgen should have triggered alarm bells for anyone familiar with those devices. Roetgen is typically measured in milliRoetgens (1/1000th), which means 3.6 Roetgen is exactly 3600 milliRoetgen per hour, aka exactly 1 milliRoetgen per second.

You guyyys, I have to see it, I can't resist the crushed velvety voice of Jared Harris. I have seen this series so many times it's ridiculous. It's just so damn good.

Instant 👍
American Gen Xer here.
I was 13 when the Chernobyl disaster occurred.
I remember the news reporting it.
My daddy's reaction: Oh...SHIT...they might call us in.
