My grandma used to take me to Toys R Us to pick out my game. She told me when I open it on Christmas to pretend I'm surprised 😂. She was the best love you grandma.

No one received "Shatter Hand" No one even knew that game existed.

I have an unusual experience with this. I was born in 2002, and my family wasn’t very well off. I had fallen in love with the video games I was fortunate enough to have and got super into the history and technical aspects of games.
Christmas of 2012, my parents couldn’t afford anything crazy, but they found an N64 with Ocarina of Time at a local store.

Opened that on Christmas morning and lost my mind like that one video of the kid opening his back when N64 was new.
I still have that N64 and copy of Ocarina of Time, which is still my favorite game of all time. It’s the one part of my collection that I absolutely will never part ways with.

I always thought 6 Golden Coins was about a plumber who is going insane and literally fighting his own alter ego.

My most memorable Christmas for video games was 1990. I got TMNT 2, Castlevania 3, and Mega Man 3 for NES. Incredible!

Streets of Rage 2 on 3DS is SO AWESOME! The 3D effect makes it pop something fierce!

1991. Tecmo Super Bowl. Dropped two weeks before Christmas. I was BEGGING for it after seeing it at the video store up the street.

Strider for the NES had one of the best endings, the secret organization he was working for asked him to carry out more missions and he simply throws down his sword and walks away.

Happy New year John Riggs Voltron is the best !!!

This is the wholesome ass content I have come to expect from this channel. Keep this stuff up. Love from Rhode Island.

Christmas of 1990 ALL the kids wanted Time Lord.  I didn't get mine until Christmas of 91 along with Battletoads & Captain Skyhawk

Absolutely true that Tetris was a game the entire family could play. My aunt was an absolute beast on Tetris; she was getting to level 25 or 30, while my 11-year-old self could barely make it to level 9. 😄 Good times.

Playing Tetris with my mom is a memory il cherish for the rest of my life. Happy holidays everyone

Mario Bros 2. was the best Xmas present i ever got.

Tailspin... Such a good Christmas memory at Christmas. Was a little younger.

1988-90 was such a big year for the NES, it's hard to say what most kids got for Christmas during those years. A lot of the games that came out from 85-87 were finally being bought in those years.

Thank you John for the fun videos! I like that they are non-scripted and how genuine you talk about games. I binged a lot of them and had the rest playing in the background. Like back in the day when TV was all we had and we sometimes let it play just for cosiness. A very holiday thing to do. Have a great 2026! :-)

12:13 Merry Christmas!

John, this was such a wonderful video idea and you definitely brought a sentimental tear to my eye once or twice! I was so blessed to have some of the most magical Christmases as a kid! In 1992 I actually received both Mega Man 5 and Bubble Bobble! Another wonderful Christmas was 1990 when I received Mega Man 3 and Blaster Master as an added surprise! And despite having the stomach flu, I enjoyed receiving Tecmo Super Bowl in 1991! Every game I just mentioned is literally one of my favorite games of all time so I was certainly blessed to not only receive these games but to love playing them as well! 😊
