Ac Milan had one of the greatest squads of all time in 2005 - Maldini, Cafu, Nesta, Stam, Seedorf, Pirlo, Kaka, Rui Costa, Shevchenko and many more. Liverpool literally had no right winning this game from 0-3 down!

Half time the liverpool fans were singing you'll never walk alone

Need to watch Liverpool's FA Cup Final come back in 2006. It's called the Gerrard final for a reason.

That Milan team was STACKED. We didn't have a chance in hell of coming back from that normally. It was all grit and determination.

One of the greatest football matches in history!

Strange game really. At half time you were waiting for 5-0 because Liverpool were being taken apart. Then Gerrard scores a remarkable goal that wasn't really his forte at all. Then Smicer does the same with a shot from outside the area, then Alonso misses the penalty but gets a second bite at the cherry and then Dudek makes an unfathomable save that to this day even he can't explain.  Almost felt like divine intervention. Unlike the Barcelona games, this all happened in one match and it was a final. I remember it live. By the time it finished I felt totally exhausted.

As a kid and a Liverpool fan watching this I went through every single emotions and cried at the end

As a Liverpool fan we had no rights beating this team it was pure heart and drive. Pure momentary emotional response

To this day Dudek has no idea how he did that double save from Schevchenko. I remeber being as a kid watching this on my small tv in my room trying to be quiet as it was late and went to pens.

A big shootout needs to go to Didi Hamann in this match, came on at half time and pocketed Kaka and completely took control of the midfield and put in one of the best performances from a midfielder ive EVER seen before scoring the first penalty. Oh and he did it all with a broken foot

As a Liverpool fan we know not to throw in the towel until the game is over because they are so good at winning from being goals down

the whole journey was insane by any measure. Liverpool was in their first year of Rafa Benitez's era, qualified by getting 4th place at Premier League which means at that point of time, they need to go through qualification match before group stage. In group stage which Liverpool played very lukewarm, Liverpool need to win by 2 clear goals on final match day against Olympiacos to qualify to next stage in Round of 16 and Olympiacos scored early goal so Liverpool now need 3 goals to qualify and managed to get it by Steven Gerrard's scored 3rd goal at 86 minute of 25 yards volley. In semifinal, Liverpool met Chelsea, the Premier League's eventual winner that managed to get 24 clean sheets all season and let in only 15 goals all season; both are the records in Premier League era and have not been broken since, managed by Jose Mourinho who the season before won UCL with Porto in 03/04 and UEFA Cup (now UEL) in 02/03. Liverpool won the semifinal by 1 goal, the infamous (or famous depending on who you ask) ghost goal. Then, in final, Liverpool met with a stacked Milan team full of modern day legends, totally incomparable against the Liverpool team lineup. Liverpool finished 5th in the Premier League in 2004/05 therefore not qualified to UCL and forced UEFA to change the rule to allow UCL title holder to automatically qualified for next season 05/06 automatically.

You should have watched the whole season journey, it will be a surprisingly religious experience in believing in miracle and human perseverance. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufzDj4HkphE

To be fair, that AC Milan side was absolutely legendary — their starting XI was stacked with world-class players, true ballers across the pitch. It’s hard to even count how many iconic names were in that lineup. In contrast, that Liverpool team had maybe two genuine stars and was far from legendary heading into the final. They were filled with average players, and it was a miracle they even made it that far. But by the end of the night, that Liverpool team etched their names into football history — they became legends.

More context for that win: It was the 5th time Liverpool had won the Champion's League trophy, and got to keep the actual trophy rather than giving it back.  They were the last club to receive that honour since the rules have changed and the cup is no longer permanently awarded.

Man for man there’s a strong argument for that Milan side being the best ever. They were insanely stacked

I was there. We started singing "we're gonna win 4-3" at half time, then one of the best most heartfelt renditions of You'll Never Walk Alone we've had. It was more a prayer, which then got answered. Some great talent on show, but Gerrard was the only recognised huge name for us. They had Dida, Nesta, Stam, Maldini, Cafu - one of the greatest backlines to play the game. Gattuso, Seedorf, Pirlo, Kaka, and Shevchenko (the best striker on the planet at the time) up front. Crespo was no slouch either. We had some good players, some great players, and Stevie. They had almost an entire squad of living legends. You could argue for almost all of them in an all-time world XI

This was the most stacked Milan team of all time. They should have won literally everything.

1:20 this whole milan team was filled with legends. One of the greatest teams ever

the miracle of Istanbul aka the 6mins of mayhem❤
