Australians joining in and showing such respect, it makes me proud to be an Aussie

The Hillsborough Tragedy: Following the 1989 disaster where 97 Liverpool fans lost their lives, the song took on a profound new significance. It became the ultimate soundtrack for the families' fight for justice and a poignant symbol of communal solidarity, mourning, and hope

The singer is Gerry & the Pacemakers, proud Liverpudlian s from the 1960’s. This was a huge hit worldwide for the band.

What makes this amazing is that Liverpool is an English side in Australia for an exhibition match against an Australian side.       English fans travelled across the world to attend but there would be more Australians than poms there.  The respect that is shown is fantastic.

I travelled over 800 kilometres from Adelaide with my family to be at MCG to be part of the atmosphere of singing You’ll Never Walk Alone. A great experience felt by 95,000 Liverpool supporters.

The picture was of a former manager called Bob Paisley one of their most successful managers.  The singer was Gerry Marsden a beloved figure and former lead singer of a famous Liverpool group called Gerry and the Pacemakers who were managed by the same manager as the Beatles Brian Epstein.  Liverpool in early 60s called the Mersey sound.

Lots of people in the uk have this played at funerals , it's a Liverpool anthem really after the tragic events in 89 .

The man on the flag is Liverpool's and England's most successful manager. The late, great Bob Paisley.

This was the largest crowd Liverpool had ever played in front of to that time and we provided it. Pretty cool.

The song is all about hope hence 'Walk on with hope in your heart' ❤❤❤

This was just a pre season friendly game on the other side of the world. Gives you idea of the sort of support Liverpool football club has.

My mother loved Jerry & the Pacemakers & was a massive Liverpool fan as well. She died the year before they came to Australia & it still makes me cry watching, she would have loved seeing this. It would have been a dream come true for her to have the chance to actually see them play here.

the song is originally from an american 50s musical....CAROUSEL....IM SURPRISEDNO BODY ELSE IN THE COMMENTS EVEN MENTIONED IT....

This song is from the musical 'Carousel' and was then recorded in the 60's by 'Jerry & The Pacemakers'.  Liverpool took it on as their anthem.

Gerry and The Pacemakers - a contemporary of the Beatles from the same city, Liverpool. I think it got to Number 1 in our charts back in the mid sixties.

Any game at the MCG is magic. Their biggest crowd  record is 105,000 people. This game was so special. Australia was not going to let Liverpool feel alone or unwanted and many dressed in red were Australian so they felt welcome. That is how sport works here and the way it should be everywhere.

The song is Liverpool's anthem they sing before every home game. It was Gerry and the pacemakers who sang it. They where a Liverpool band around the same time as the Beatles.  The image on the huge flag was Sir Bob Paisley who managed Liverpool through their most successful period. Other clubs also use it, but it was Liverpool’s and the song is always associated with the club and fans.

Gerry and The Pacemakers were the singers on the track.  They had a huge hit with this song in the 60’s.  The band was from Liverpool, UK.

Oh bro 8:45 it's a hype song. It draws from the very depths of our emotions.  The depths.

This song started in a movie and has been sung by heaps of people but was first made really famous when it was a hit in  1963 by a LIVERPOOL band, Jerry and the pacemakers.
They would have used that track.
