McKinsey Solve Game is the name of McKinsey’s online assessment that you need to pass to join McKinsey & Company. The McKinsey Solve Game – or: McKinsey Problem Solving Game (PSG) – has three parts: the Ecosystem Game, the Redrock Study, and the Sea Wolf Game.

The Redrock Study (also: Red Rock Study) presents the second part of your McKinsey PSG. In the Redrock Study, you are made the caretaker of Redrock Island, where your job will be to control the local wildlife population or its biodiversity.

Behind this greenwashing eco theme, the Redrock Study actually presents a tough quantitative assessment against a tough time limit (35 minutes – like all three McKinsey Solve Games). In the Redrock Study’s investigation phase, you need to curate and select from overwhelming sets of data and charts. In its analysis phase, you need to combine your selected data to address your game’s objective. In the report phase, you need to summarize your results and recommendations. In the Cases part, you still “stay” on Redrock Island, but need to answer a series of analytical questions that is independent of the first part’s data.

In this video, I reveal to you what awaits you in the different phases of the Redrock Study and share my tips on best practices. Interactive practice questions you find in the next video of this interactive McKinsey Solve Game playlist 🙂

I am Dr “Jack” Jörg Leib, a former McKinsey Project Manager and Consultant, who is striving to make my content useful and engaging!
