The way people act like an inheritance tax would "disincentivize people from saving for their kids" makes me want to pull my hair out. Are you really trying to tell me that if you can only inherit 1 billion of your parent's 2 billion dollar fortune that this will make it worthless, that it wouldn't be worth it anymore? And remember, every other rich kid would also pay the tax, so you're not even losing anything in a relative sense. If all billionaires lost half of their money, literally nothing would change other than maybe prices for billionaire luxuries would marginally decrease. There's still only so much ocean-front property in the world, and if everyone who wants that property has half the money they now do, that just means prices for those properties will come down since their target market is less wealthy now and has less free cash to throw away on stuff like that.

The fact that we can't even agree that people who inherit billions should have to pay a modest tax on that free and undeserved inheritance makes me think that we're just cooked in terms of tax policy in this country.

Recession 😡
Japan Recession 😍

I’m German, I took all my vacation off for a month in… Tokyo. Also as a German a strong inheritance tax sounds good, we have a massive problem with lazy billionaire dynasties funding neo nazis.

I hate when chatters give their review of a video before Atrioc even starts. Let the man watch it and decide if it's boring on his own, ffs. Even if it is, Atrioc often adds his own spin to content to make the information more digestable. That's why we're watching him react to it, after all.

lol it’s very funny to hear an American joke about European holidays. 4 weeks annual leave as an aussie and plenty of public holidays that we won’t be giving up anytime soon.

12:03 German Holidays depend on which part of germany you are from. Where I'm from it's 10 Days per year. The concept of bank holidays doesn't exist in germany. If the holiday falls on a weekend that's unlucky. The real reason germany works less hours on average is because there are a lot of part time workers.

I mean, if the size of the economy stagnates, but hte workforce shrinks then that's a good thing. You'd expect the econom to shrink if the workforce shrinks, if it doesn't then that means your remaining workfroce became more productive to compensate.

What everyone forgets is Japanese Central Bank owns  over 70% of their debt. It is this weird behavior where the government technically owns all the debt they print, as well as their other institutions owning.

Hell 1/5 is owned by Japan Post which is the Government itself.

Why is he yelling at me? stop yelling :(

31:30 except monopolize and price fixing.

As an American living in Japan I'm absolutely calling bullshit on that factoid about japanese work hours being below the US

Mastered pain

I mean if Japan suceeded in just keeping the status quo it would be good enough

Anyone know if an inheritance tax has any benefit in boosting the economy some how or does it just combat classism

This is also a foreboding of the future when all these low birthrates catch up with us, stagflation will just be the norm. Japan also had first movers adantage, I think it will be much worse for the rest of the world. Like an unequal and stagnating economy will only get worse as the average age and elderly dependacy ratio goes up

Random fact about English. In Canada we have all our signs as English and French though the whole country EXPECT in Quebec which puts it only in French. This annoys me because the rest of the country bends over for them and they don't do the same.

This guy's jokes are so insanely unique wow truly uncanny how impossble it is to predict the joke about katanas, insane brain cells

How does an inheritance tax not cement the current economic situation we find ourselves in. That further cements people holding on to their property until they feel they should reverse mortgage it.
