🇲🇦 *IMI N’IFRI NATURAL BRIDGE, DEMNATE MOROCCO… HOW MANY MORE STEPS?! 😂*
Welcome to *Imi n’Ifri Natural Bridge near Demnate, Morocco* – one of the more unusual natural attractions we found while travelling through the High Atlas region.
And apparently, the main requirement for visiting is… *LEGS. LOTS OF LEGS.* 😂
After already spending what felt like half our Morocco trip walking up and down steps, we arrived at Imi n’Ifri and discovered the best way to see the natural bridge properly.
Yep.
*MORE STEPS.*
Before we even got that far, though, we had to navigate the usual confusion of people pointing us in different directions…
👉 “This way!”
👉 “No, this way is better!”
👉 “Come with me!”
👉 “I show you!”
Everyone seemingly wanting to become our personal tour guide whether we actually wanted one or not. 😂
Eventually we found our own way down and got underneath the incredible **Imi n’Ifri Natural Bridge**, located just outside **Demnate (Demnat), Morocco**.
And to be fair… it IS impressive.
Imi n’Ifri means roughly **“the mouth of the cave” in Tamazight**, and the enormous natural formation has been created by water and geological processes over an extremely long period of time. The surrounding rock includes **Lower Jurassic limestone**, while the natural bridge itself includes younger travertine formed from calcium-rich spring water.
The result is this enormous natural arch sitting above the gorge below.
It’s also recognised as a **Site of Biological and Ecological Interest**, with the gorge providing a habitat for birds, bats and other wildlife.
All very educational.
But nobody warned Mr TravelON about THE STEPS. 😂
⬇️ Steps down.
🪨 Look at bridge.
⬆️ Steps back up.
Welcome to sightseeing with Mr TravelON.
In this video we show you what visiting *Imi n’Ifri Natural Bridge* is actually like, rather than just giving you the polished tourist-board version.
Is Imi n’Ifri worth visiting?
Do you need a guide?
What is there actually to see?
And most importantly…
*HOW MANY BLOODY STEPS ARE THERE?! 😂*
If you're planning a **Morocco road trip**, travelling through **Demnate**, exploring the **High Atlas Mountains**, or looking for unusual **things to do near Marrakech**, Imi n’Ifri is certainly one of the more unusual natural attractions to add to the route.
It’s around *100km from Marrakech* and just a few kilometres outside Demnate, making it possible to combine with other attractions in the region including *Ouzoud Falls* and the nearby **dinosaur footprint sites**.
This is Morocco away from the resorts and organised tourist attractions – driving through smaller towns, finding places we’d never heard of and occasionally wondering why every tourist attraction seems to be at the bottom of 400 steps.
