Oh boy a new episode of my favorite series, "You Didn't Use Summons Enough When You Played KH1"

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN FREEZE THE BUBBLES!?

@MogGamer821 10 months ago

The fact that Goofy has the lowest defense stat despite being the “shield” of the group might be my new favorite fact of the entire series so far.

The old days where you couldn’t skip cutscenes, the line before the second Riku fight is carved into my head.

The details when Sora sacrifices himself to free Kairi are really beautiful and carefully thought out, making everything within that short but emotional scene feel so meaningful. How six balls of light come out for the other princesses, and then Kairi's. How the camera focuses in specifically on Belle, who due to Beast's role in this chapter feels like the second most prominent princess of the world after Kairi despite it not being her own. How Sora, just before he faints, shows just a hint of a desperate smile, childishly happy that he succeeded in saving everyone, even if it's the end for him. It all comes together so beautifully.

The raven statues disappearing was not an oversight and I love their attention to detail. The raven that appears in KH2 is a familiar and it's the reason the three fairies find out she's still alive because the raven brings the cloak or at least part of it. Maleficent likely created those statues when she was there, which is why they, the green flames, and the briar thorns disappeared. All of those elements are aspects of Maleficent's design and her presence overall

18:24 One cool fact about Defenders: whenever they use or begin to use a magic spell, you can actually aim for the opposite of the element they're using (using Blizzard when they use Fire and vice-versa) to temporarily stun them AND get Tech Points to boot!

5:10 I will never forget on our first playthrough of this game, my brother GASPED and said “THE BIG BAD WOLF.”

He's being deliberately difficult about freezing the bubbles. He's actively fucking with us.

I Love the huge sweeping camera shots of the exterior using the Smash Ultimate stage

This is just a theory of mine, but I think the fact that Riku is depicted like he has a dark wing in official art is a parallel/reference to Sephiroth, as he also has silver hair, and he was supposed to be a hero (of the key blade) at the start but ends up being a villain. Also, the fact that Sora has spiky hair like Cloud was even referenced by Tifa in KH2

I have to say I appreciate this series as your willing to engage with the story, themes and gameplay because so many people would have devolved it saying isn’t this lore so weird and wacky guys

The whole "Keyblade Master" issue might be a translation error, but Sora figuring out that the weapon isn't the source of his power - but rather that his heart is it's - is already like 80% of the journey towards Keyblade mastery as laid out later, the rest being Journal completion

"Microwave tunnel" and then "the best is yet to come" me thinks you might be a metal gear fan.

Something interesting that people usually don’t mention, is that the term “master” in this world, particularly with Riku’s sentence of “let it choose its true master” is less about dominion and “mastery” of the Keyblade, and more of servitude. The Keyblade is a servant to who wields it, its master, as shown that Keyblades have a will of its own, allowing them to pick and change who is allowed to wield them. This creates confusion evidently, as later on in the franchise, Keyblade Masters, “those who have mastered their path” takes on a different meaning, but this and that are two different things.

“Who besides him would do this with a smile?”

BBS: Oh, I know an old man who’d LOVE to have a word with you.

…and it won’t be the last thing he and Sora can do.
