Ancient DNA Finally Reveals the REAL Origin of Haiti's First People

The story most people were told about Haiti's first inhabitants came almost entirely from the men who wiped them out — Columbus's own population estimate, and a Spanish priest's number three times higher, both written with an agenda, neither one ever independently checked. Ancient DNA, recovered from a bone nobody thought could survive the Caribbean's climate, finally checked it.

This video reads the actual record. A stone-tool theory that once traced some of the Caribbean's earliest people back to California's Channel Islands — tested directly against ancient genomes for the first time, and rejected. The real first wave, 6,000 years ago, from Central and northern South America. A second, genetically distinct population arriving from the Orinoco basin in Venezuela at least 1,700 years ago, replacing over 98% of the older population — the direct ancestors of the people Europeans called Taíno. A pre-contact population revised down to 10,000–50,000 people, not the "million" Columbus claimed or the "3 million" later alleged — and why that correction makes the atrocity more documented, not less.

And the twist specific to Haiti: modern mitochondrial DNA studies show 61% of Puerto Ricans, 22% of Dominicans, and 33% of Cubans still carry a detectable Taíno maternal signature today. In Haiti — sharing the very same island as the Dominican Republic — that number comes back at 0%.

Every claim tonight traces back to a named study, a named research team, or a named published dataset — no assumption, only what the record actually shows.
