Hey Youtube Friends! In this episode of our Promaster van build we are replacing our two-person bench seat with a single bucket seat.

Finnley wasn’t too happy about this decision, since he no longer gets to ride up front with us, but we love being able to access both the front and the back of the van without going outside 🚐

At first, this project was a bit daunting, but after doing a little research and tackling it ourselves, we were surprised by how straight forward the switch actually was! 😁

We’ve broken the whole project down into sections for you to follow along with and make the switch yourself, if you’re interested in a particular section, just click on the time stamp below and it will take you there!

What You’ll Need
Occupancy sensor: https://tinyurl.com/3jp4z2sc
Seat Belt Pretensioner: Take these from your existing seat

You can also take the occupancy sensor from your current bench seat, but you'll need to cut it open. We chose not to do this in case the swap failed and we were left with no usable seats.

Just bought a new 2025 Pro M 2500 Cargo w/ bench seat. Dealer promised to change it to buckets seat. The dealer does not know this information. Thank you.

Contemplating cutting out the sensor on our current bench seat OR buying the sensor and trying to sell the bench seat with all components.. Did your bench seat sell pretty quickly? Or was it a hassle?

Hi Guys - wish I had seen this before. We're in the interior of BC near Vernon and I couldn't find a upholsterer that would sew in a new air bag - they said it required a tear away thread. So I ended up cutting down the bench to make a single. Far from ideal but better than nothing, Will your upholster do another ???? cheers Dave

Awesome video! Looking to do a seat swap myself. I have a 2021 promaster bench and was wondering if you knew if a 2019 single seat would fit? Just wondering about the bolt pattern on the floor. I cant find a clear answer on whether different year seats are interchangeable. Not too worried about fooling the sensor.

Excellent vid, thank you! We're just about to start into this process ourselves for our 2020 Promaster. Curious as to what year vehicle you have as it doesn't appear that the sensor you linked is compatible with the 2020's. You purchased from the US...were you unable to find any Canadian suppliers?
