📖 Forty years of dressing women over 60, the whole method, set down in one book

A customer of mine once asked me where her eyeshadow had gone. She closed her eyes to show me, and there it was, beautifully done. She opened them, and it vanished under the fold of her lid. She laughed and said she had been doing her eyes for nobody.
I am not a makeup artist. The one change in this video belongs to a woman two doors down from my boutique who did the makeup for brides, most of them over sixty. She taught it to me in one sentence: you do not do a hooded eye with the eye shut. You do it with the eye open, the way the world sees it.
A hooded eye is not a fault. Many of us simply grow into it. The eye underneath is as beautiful as ever. The colour has only been going to the wrong address.
The 7 steps:
• Find your real fold with your eyes open, chin level, and the chin-up trick for applying without closing the lid
• Clear the space under the brow without thinning it, and what to do when your brows have gone silver
• The soft matte shade goes just above the fold, pressed on first, then blended like a windscreen wiper
• Blend up and out toward the temple, never down, and the cotton swab lift at the outer corner
• Light on the lid, depth above the fold, and why a dark lid makes a hooded eye smaller
• The line stays at the roots of the lashes, as thin as you can make it
• Curl the lashes, and why you always start with the eye that is more hooded
Plus the two-minute version for busy mornings, and the honest part: if your lid rests on your lashes or gets in the way of your sight, that is a conversation for your doctor, not for a makeup brush.
