Update:  Oversimplified very graciously reached out to let me know they're addressing the issue with AdRev and that it shouldn't be happening.

The only preacher to become President and the only President to move from the House of Representatives to the White House.

Sam, you’ve gotta be my favorite YouTuber for Indian history, I hope you keep your channel.

I am a 70 year old man, and my parents had little formal education. My father had only a 6th education, my mother finished only 7th grade. But my father was a very intelligent man, self taught, and a great father of a large family. I am the youngest of 9 kids, and my father was very disappointed when I joined the Navy after high school instead of going to college. But because of him, after 10 years service, I went back to school, and got that education he so much wanted me to have

Queen Victoria survived 8 assassination attempts including a leap day 1872 attempt where her favorite John Brown tackled the assailant.

A what-if on Hannibal Hamlin as president would be fascinating.  If he wasn't replaced as Lincoln's VP for the reelection, Hamlin would've been the president instead of Andrew Johnson.  The post war reconstruction would've looked radically different, and that would've been a major turning point in American history.

The attempt to claim Innocence due to the fact Garfield died from an infection reminds me of Charles Whitman, the University of Texas sniper. Despite him being killed in 1966, his kill count rose by one in 2001 when one of his surviving victims died due to complications of the gunshot

Hope everything works out for the channel Chris! A great book about Garfield is "Destiny of the Republic" by Candice Millard

I pray for you Chris, a loving debacle, a true treat and gift from YouTube... Truly may this pass over without much grief done.

It fascinates and baffles me that I learn more about people in 45 minute to 2 hour YouTube videos than I did in all my years in school (no college)

22:55 .. I think we all know he mean to say Andrew Johnson, not Andrew Jackson.

Yes,it is absolutely terrifying just how many assasinations happened at that time, some of them include Tsar Alexander II,Empress Elizabeth of Austria,Sadi Carnot,King Umberto I

This sentiment even went into the 1900s-1910s with King Carlos I of Portugal, Georgios I of greece and well...the assasinations of Franz Ferdinand and Tsar Nicholas II

There were also some assasination attempts on people like TR,Kaiser Wilhelm, Leopold of Belgium and King Alfonso XIII

Just reading about all the context behind these assasinations during the same period is fascinating,as it gives us a clear Insight about how the thinking of the people changed during this time

I hope YouTube keeps your channel up, I have been here for the past 2 years and if you ever need to call your supporters, I’m in till the very end.

I'm very glad to see James Garfield getting the recognition he deserves.

The YT issue is why so many creators are moving to Nebula/CuriosityStream. YT pulls this kind of stuff a lot.

Good book on Garfield, "Destiny Of The Republic; A Tale Of Madness, Medicine, And The Murder Of A President." By. Candice Millard.....

As someone who watches alot of Simon's other channels (particularly Brain Blaze), it's so weird to see him so focused on the topic at hand. I'm so used to rants and raving about the writers he's chained up in his basement.

Love your channel and the channels of Biographics and Geographics!

In one of you previous videos you briefly mentioned the Halifax Explosion and saying you didn't really know much about the topic. On Simon's other channel, Geographics, there is a video on the event. It will be 105th anniversary of December 6th this year. It would be interesting if you had time to take a look at the video!

I appreciate your channel! I have learned a lot, and your perspective is one I resonate with as both a believer and a history teacher. Vlog on sir!

Ever since I saw American Experience's Murder of a President I've wondered the same thing. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it to you. It also dives deep into his early life and tells of his rise from poverty. It's part traditional documentary and part docudrama and the acting is in my opinion Oscar worthy! Especially the actors they got to play James Garfield and Charles Guiteau.

Sam, Garfield would have been the greatest Indian president to date.
