This video is an accomplishment. To play the game twice, experiment, write record and edit a 21 page script, organizing 600+ video clips, and publishing just 10 days after getting the game...

I've never done something so insane. And I did it without compromising the quality of this video. To the contrary, I think it's one of my best.

Hope you're enjoying the game, and make sure you pay attention to all the cool tech here.

Thank you to those who've stuck around all these years, and those coming back for another look.

Here’s the only review they fear

I am amazed at what Id software has done here - they have made a trilogy of Doom games that are each incredibly high quality, recognizably Doom, and yet completely unique. I can't think of another developer accomplishing anything like that.

You're spot on with Micks melodies and unique tone. Micks song "BFG Division" has 60 MILLION views on Youtube, with many copies with their own millions. Eternal songs just as popular. I still listen to 2016/Eternal soundtracks today. His sound also just fits the Slayer and franchise so perfectly. TAG1/2 had a few good tracks and they didn't do a bad job, but still didn't hit the same as Mick. Its really such a shame they couldn't reconcile. Artistically it really was a match made in heaven (That ended very hellishy).

Ah finally the review that actually tells me the merits and weaknesses of this game from someone who took the time to actually understand and assess them. Rather than 'I didn't like it' cause it's not 2016 or Eternal.

i loved when mayo said "it's mayoing time" and he mayo'd all over the place

I think that overall, we should appreciate that something rare has happened in the industry. We not only have three great games, we have three different games with fundamental differences that produce an identity seperate from the others.

They don't replace, but co-exist in harmony. Now its inevitable that The Dark Ages will create the same division that Eternal did. But that is the price you pay for taking a brave new step in a series this iconic.

Well done for the effort made in this video, and well done to Id Software.

The start of 3 years of content is here!

I noticed that the Stalker Imp makes classic Archvile noises. I just think thats neat.

The gameplay clip at the start hyped me more than any trailer so far.

I watched 3 different reviews already and yours is the best by far. I havent seen anyone put in as much effort or explain the mechanics of the game as well as you have. Thank you mayo, nobody reviews skill based singleplayer games as well as you do

The shredder is actually crazy OP when upgraded. It can highlight an enemy after a certain amount damage and causes an explosion after a shield throw. It also causes armor to heat up for a shield throw break really fast.

As usual, the best analysis of game mechanics. You are probably the only person on YouTube which discusses actual mechanics. Everyone else only rangs about graphics and story. Its a shame. Games are primarily about the gameplay.

I am happy to see this video which talks so muxh about the gameplay

I watched this twice to get a deep understanding. Great job, Mayo! This may be your best work! I've been watching you since your groundbreaking "In Defence of the Marauder" video. Big ups!

Thanks for mentioning the melee input buffering and weapon swap buffering during certain actions. The strange behavior of the former and lack of the latter really ended up screwing with my enjoyment of the game because I kept getting stuck meleeing an extra unintended time and having to swap a weapon very slowly after very important actions that you constantly have to be doing that CANNOT be done while swapping. Sometimes it felt like a random melee strike would throw itself out for no reason, without me even hitting the input at all. Hopefully id changes some things around so the game feels more smooth in these ways. I think it’d go a really long way.
