Salute to Lao Sifu Jimmy H. Woo! and his family fighting art that he has shared with those of us that have been privaleged enough to get to learn it in his lineage.
Mr. Jimmy H. Woo was a great teacher in so many ways about life. He was a true Warrior. I had the great honor to meet for the first time Mr. Woo in 1975 to attend a class at his El Monte studio for upper belts on a Saturday afternoon. Mr Woo was very welcoming to me and Ernie Armstrong, two guys who worked as managers for Mr. Frank Woolsey Kung-fu studios. And he did not demote our black belt ranking.
I met Jimmy Woo in the 70s in his El Monte school. He was a very nice man.Dont be fooled by his friendly demeanor. He could kick some ass when he had to.He came up hard growing up in China. He came to the USA with only the shirt on his back and built an empire in the martial arts.
As a lifelong martial artists the one thing I’ve learned for sure is not to believe any of the legends about the origins of a martial arts. Especially the ones about a 5th generation student or learning from some unknown Asian guy they met somewhere!
