It's so cool that the Guardians had his back and publicly fought his corner too. Says a lot about the man

He lost everything, yet went to bed happy because he felt loved. Shows you what's actually important in life

I loved how Marvel never found any director who was willing to replace him. They asked every A list and up and coming director and they all passed on Guardians Vol. 3 out of respect for James Gunn.

Inspiring. He’s now the head of DC studios which might not have happened if he was stuck on the MCU train

People need to remember that Marvel didn't fire him, Disney did. I think there were rumours that Feige did not agree with the firing. I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel didn't even bother finding a new director. Gunn was bought back less than a week after the Fox buyout was finalised.

I'll never forget the Guardians cast signed statement having his back

"I learned that people actually loved me" sounds a lot like Rocket Raccoon there at the end.  Especially because the same people that showed love to Rocket were the same people that had James Gunn's back.

The fact the cast refused to do the film without him really says alot about his and there characters

James is the living embodiement of the phrase: kindness begets kindness

He got fired. Then WB offered him anything at DC. The Guardians cast then backed him up, then Disney had no choice to bring him back.
Now he runs the studio. Absolute fill circle.

Wow. Kudos to James for his honesty here. Thinking about selling his house & trying to make the money he'd earned so far last the rest of his life is very real.

I love that this attempt to sabotage James Gunn ultimately resulted in him getting a new movie to direct and co-running the show at DC Studios.

Superman (2025) being a reality thanks to the culmination of kindness is just kind of perfect, huh?

My dad’s around James Gunn’s age. 15 years ago (the age of the tweets abouts) he would’ve disowned for who I am now. Now he picks me up from work when I miss my bus, helped me pay my security deposit, and lets my boyfriend use his washing machine. Good people should be judged by how they react to their past, not by that past itself. And it seems to me that the people who matter in his life have judged him and judged him well.

What a real one. One of the few who came back from being cancelled because he owned up to his mistakes honestly and everyone he worked with knew he was a good guy. Came back and then made one of the most faith-positive tentpole films maybe ever.

What a beautiful story. I'm so glad you made a point to talk with James about this. Thank you.

i can feel his self hate and redemption in peacemaker's character.
yes james didn't killed or harmed anyone like peacemaker but he knows he wrote really terrible jokes and i feel that he is still sad because of that.

This is one of the most profound interview moments I have ever seen. Truly wow.

I'll never forget seeing Dave Bautista on Jonathan Ross with such strong support saying he just didn't want to be a part of Guardians 3 unless James Gunn was involved.

Awesome to hear how widespread the support was and what James actually took from that moment, wow.

So glad he was able to move on. From the previews Superman looks like it's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to see it.

Sounds like that thing made Gunn actually self actualise

After marvel fired him, DC was there to hire him
