70 year CO native, grew up in that area. It's pronounced like Skol-field pass. Camping on the Crystal one time my parents and I road 1974 Yamaha trail-bikes over the pass to Crested Butte and back in the dark. I picked up some guy walking after rolling his jeep, rode double from the top after midnight back to camp, where he met the sheriff. Good times, and good fishing in that area.

In the mid 90s my dad attempted to take a brand new, stock Z71 over this pass. Without wrecking, he did enough damage to the chassis and undercarriage that insurance totaled it. As for why he tried this, he was released from MD Anderson and given a short time to live. So, let's just say he made the best of it...

My wife and I did it in the 90s with our two dogs in a 4 cyl Trooper. We camped up top and had a great time. I shot lots of video all along the way. The folks in Marble said we were the first ones to go over the pass that year. And a gal in Marble invited us into her home to show us the marble she had in her home. Very nice folks in Marble back in the 90s.

The pioneers of the 1800’s and early 1900’s who built the trails, roads, and railroad passes like this were on another level. Amazing video!

We did Schofield Pass in a bone stock Jeep! Pinstripes, mines, waterfalls,shelf roads, Devils Punchbowl, water crossings, all done while I was 76! Great video!

The most dangerous thing about BB pass is a noob in a rental.
it is pronounced as `Cam-ber :D

That was without a doubt not only the best Schofield pass video ever, but one of the best offloading videos I've EVER seen!
Excellent work!!

Thank you for the video. I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life, but there’s no way I will drive on any narrow, sketchy trails like this one. I’m glad I can watch you do it on video. I want to add that I like to read comments on here from people who have interesting things to say about their experiences.

Wow Kerry. Hands down the best "SKO-field" Pass (sorry) video out there and one of the best videos out there, period. We are Coloradans that drove Schofield down from Gothic to Crystal in 2000 in a stock Cherokee on 30x9x15's on lots of loose rock at 9:30 on a Sunday morning. 'Had only done Imogene and Red Cone previously in a CJ5. I know, we lucked out. Having done Black Bear and all the other passes around Ouray in the last 5 years we can agree that this one is the scariest. Anyone considering this pass should definitely consider your warnings! Katerina did a great job both filming and driving; and thank you for this content. You put us right there again! This canyon is obviously one of the most beautiful places you can find yourself in!

I'll take this and BB Pass any day of the week over driving through Denver

This video is wonderful. Makes me miss Colorado so much. I lived there for 12 years and had some very wonderful times in the mountains 4 wheeling and camping. It is the most wonderful of places. Thank you very much for bringing back wonderful memories.

Like everyone else.. possibly THE BEST video production of capturing the essence of Schofield Pass and Crystal Cyn. Drone footage is on a pro level not usually seen which puts this video over the top. Well done. I'm a subscriber now.

61 yrs here in Colorado, and LOVE these videos where you feel like you’re right there!
Thanks for taking us all along with you.
I’ve traveled many backwoods, off-road trails, but never Schofield.
Again, thank you!
Colorado, my home, & definitely, Gods Country!

I did this trail in 2013. Had I seen this video prior to that I would not have attempted it. To quote from another trail oriented website "There are steeper and rockier trails in Colorado but none more dangerous". This is the best video of Schofield Pass I've seen. Well done, Sir!

@Jennifer-wv3jt 1 year ago

OMG thank you so much for allowing me to ride along on this journey 😃 I enjoyed it immensely, even if only via video. You did some excellent driving and took beautiful footage with your drone. Thank you again it was so fun and beautiful.

Colorado is still one of the most beautiful states in the country and always has been. Especially in the Fall season.

Did Schofield Pass twice in one day. First from Crested Butte to Crystal and then back. A group of us were in side-by-sides. It was a little sketchy above Devil's Punchbowl because it was lightly raining and the rocks were very slick.

@cynthiaroberts7809 1 year ago

Did it twice in the late 60's as a kid with my dad and his buddy. I think we were in some sort of WW II Jeep. There was no bridge in those days. I remember stopping to let the brakes dry out before we started back to Marble. I've done the Lead King Loop many, many times since then, but no more pass for me 😂 i remember they had me get out and walk the part by the Punchbowl one time. Fun times! Loved every minute 😊 Thanks for taking me back!!
