Two British Guys watching Project Hail Mary for the very first time — and this might be the best sci-fi film in years. The Project Hail Mary Reaction absolutely wrecked us. Movie Reaction | First Time Watching something this good doesn't happen often. Ryan Gosling is a complete revelation, Andy Weir's story grips you from the very first scene, and what this film does in its second act is something we genuinely did not see coming. Space, science, friendship, survival — this film has everything. Is this the best sci-fi film of the decade? After watching it, we think it might just be.

During the recent Artemis II flyby of the moon, "Amaze, amaze, amaze" was uttered as a confirmation by the crew to NASA during the entry into lunar gravity.

51:47 Book quote: Grace: “On Earth, we have a scary, deadly creature called a spider. You look like one of those. Just so you know.”Rocky: “Good. Proud. I am scary space monster. You are leaky space blob.”

Ryan said he wanted this movie to be the "ET" for his kids. Mission accomplished!❤❤❤

In the book, the Eridian scientists let Grace know that Earth's sun starts going back to normal brightness, so it's confirmed it worked for them.

The Hail Mary is full of Grace.

Mirroring each other can be the smartest way to communicate with the alien at the very beginning. Shows that you are not threatening and expresses desire to communicate.

Great movie! Didn't know I needed chemistry between Ryan Gosling and a space rock in my life but I'm glad it happened! 😂

Ah YES you are the FIRST reaction I've seen on YT to speculate correctly that "the first one looked like the sun with the patrova line" WELL DONE

Yao: "You just need to find someone to be brave for..." Rocky for Grace... Then Grace for Rocky

One thing from the book at the end, so Grace doesn't starve, they clone his cells and grow meat from them for him to eat... he calls them "meburgers"

While in the coma, Grace had electrodes attached to his muscles which stimulated them. So he woke up more muscular that when he went into a coma. In the movie one of the things written on the white board was “Always Muscles?” In the book they address it more that he has never been in such good shape.

The puppeteer behind Rocky better be in line for an Academy Award!

He calculated 113.8 years is the time it would take to get back to earth based on the remaining fuel. The magnetic cup is used when there is weightlessness. Didn't want it floating around.

It wasn’t a window. Rocky gave Grace a patchwork of a variety of types of wall to see which was the one he could most easily perceive through. Grace showed preference for the transparent one. Rocky didn’t know it was transparent. But when Grace came back there was pressure, gravity, oxygen, and a full transparent wall.

Such a gem of a movie, the ending left me in tears well happy tears 😅, Ryan Gosling nailed the role. Really such a roller coaster of emotions

I like how at the beginning, Grace is teaching his students how sound waves work, basically how Eridians see, then on Erid he's teaching Eridian students about light waves, how humans see.

"It's like they're doing a dance"... yes, that is exactly why there is tango music playing during the scene with both ships rotating.

Fun fact- the "Rocky hate Mark" line wasn't meant to be in it. It was an inside joke, during rehearsal, between Gosling and the lead puppeteer and voice actor for Rocky, James Ortiz. The Mark in question is a friend of RG who was visiting the set. There's also a bit of headcanon that allows it to be Mark Watney from The Martian. Same writer therefore same Universe.

Also Stratt singing wasn't in the script. RG heard Sandra Huller singing in her dressing room and came up with the idea. She was allowed to pick the song too.
