It is that time, my friends. After 10 years of slowly adding to my costume storage, I am FINALLY tackling it. This week, I wanted to purge some of my costumes that I know I won't wear, and organize the ones I will.
I cannot tell you how intimidating this was, but LET'S GOOO.
I will keep you updated on giveaways once I can get a day to catalogue and list everything!
I love you all, most ardently!!

For those costumes that you dont like the way the came out, i gaurentee a local theater will take them! Local theater gal here, especially historical costumes youll save a costumer some hard work!

Absolutely iconic that there are no Hobbit pieces in those racks because it's everyday wear for Rachel. 🙌🌻❤️

I saw someone dress as a rat at the Ren Fest and give people stamps on their hands to show that they have the plague now and it was hilarious 😂🐀

Getting a head nod from Henry Cavill is 1000% a reason to keep something 😂😍

You can always donate pieces to a local community college that has a theater dept. They'll likely have the storage space over a high school.

Fun fact, St. Helens Oregon is where Halloweentown was filmed and every year for the whole month of October they dress the town up like the movie. I haven't been there on Halloween, but I bet you that Aggie costume would be a hit there.

laughing that, in your life, the vampire coat is more versatile than a pair of jeans. Loved this video; thank you for making yet another great purge!

Every "tidy up/purge/decluttering " video out there has never taken costumes into account. People always are like "If you haven't worn it for a year get rid of it" and they don't understand performers/dress up folk!
I think you did great! I have a bunch of wild shit to give away but especially if I made it, I want to make sure it goes to someone who appreciates it like I did

Was screaming “that’s the lace skirt that went with the bathing suit outfit from when it stormed on the beach!” like a normal viewer who definitely doesn’t rewatch everything

Just jumping in quick!
If you're planning to store clothing long term, I don't recommend sealed plastic containers as it can literally make the fabric rot and stain!
If they must be in plastic tubs, then don't seal them. Crack the lid a bit to allow some air flow.
Trust me on this. I lost costumes and a silk kimono due to this mistake.
The ideal solution is to use cloth dress bags or storage cases like you find at Ikea.
Letting the clothes breathe is key! 👍

that vampire jacket with the built vest actually looked so fire with the outfit you were already wearing

A head nod from Henry Cavill is the most impressive part of this video.

Rachel: "I don't know if anyone would want this." Us: "ALL. OF. THE. THINGS."

"Sometimes even when you don't declutter, reassessing everything can declutter your brain" 1000%!!!!

For the rust on your costume, try a rust remover. It works on clothes! Love your content! Also, get some pool noodles and cut them to a height so they'll fit in your boots!

Very specific comment but for anyone having pit stains or any type of yellowish stains on white (NOT wool and silk) fabric, I recommand letting it sink in hot water with sodium percarbonate. It's pretty cheap, non-toxic and works as kind of a light bleach while desinfectant, I've found this for a white shirt I had handmade and really did not want to be already ruined and I've put many more white stuff into my closet since then that I couldn't wear because of stains so yay

Thought for giveaway: Auction them for charity. You've mentioned wanting to do more things along the charitable line, so this may be the perfect opportunity.... It's definitely more work, but hopefully the extra feel-good value would compensate?

And, in these dark times you mentioned, charities and grassroots organizations are going to need funds more than ever before!

Thank you for keeping us all smiling & being a bright light through all this!

I literally gasped when you said you were giving away the book dress. It's my absolute favourite make of yours and I've been meaning to make one for myself (but you know how it goes). Same for the secret garden dress, its the first video I ever watched of you and your "eloquent ode to spring" still makes me laugh every time I watch it. I can't imagine getting rid of any handmade costumes, let alone this many. You are a brave and strong woman Rachel! I look forward to seeing MANY more costumes join these racks!
