When Lara sings, it's as if she takes you by the hand and says, "Come, let me take you on a journey." She sings directly from her soul and into yours.

The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.

Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer. He co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero.
And he  was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that increased Celine Dion WW fame.  He also had produced a song for Dimash among others.

When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision,  that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.

Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).

One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:

- Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it),
- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her),
- Linda Eder,
- Cakra Khan,
- Gigi de Lana,
- Regine Velasquez,
- Almira (from 4th Impact),
- Katrina Velarde,
- Julie Anne San Jose,
- Sarah Geronimo,
- Morissette Amon,
- Petra Berger,
- Harrison Craig,
- Rimar,
- Jackie Evancho,
- …

For Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning.

But the original from Lara remains the absolute reference

John she wrote 200+ songs in 4 languages and often co-composed the music.
These songs have been covered by the greatests (from Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban… to Dimash, Floor Jansen, Diana Ankudinova, Morissette Amon, …)
She even wrote lyrics for others: eg Your Love for Dimash.

She hums better than most singers sing. There is no one better than Lara Fabian.

Thanks, John, for reacting to this. I'm an old guy who's been "in love" with Lara for a long time and NEVER stop being amazed, and moved. My kidneys have goosebumps during this performance no matter how many times I watch/listen to her. She is a living legend, as all who know of her understand. Enjoy the Lara journey! And we'll enjoy it with you! And to answer your question, yes - she did write this, while curled up on the bathroom floor crying after she broke off a relationship because he cheated on her. The lyrics are real, honest, and --- Lara, which is why it rings true. (Who the eff would cheat on this woman???)

From Lara With Love is the best TV special you have never seen.  Well WORTH your time!  Even her White Christmas is epic.  She writes a lot, in at least four languages, but she also covers classical crossover tunes to perfection.

She's pure magic ♥

The forgiveness is: I let you go. I let you fly.  - She wishes him well and is able to let go. You have to forgive to do that. It's not just about her own feelings, it's about him - that is ... love.
You rarely find real love songs.

She can’t be human. She’s too good!!! By far, the best voice. This is top gold Olympic!

Lara doesn’t just sing, she embodies the song into her soul and sends it all back out with every angst humanity has ever known.

Nobody sings with emotions like Lara. Her voice is untouchable!

And here comes Queen Lara Fabulous being, as always, amazing!!! 🤎👸🏼🤎

Hey John, Lara co-wrote this song. It is such a beautiful song and she is so fabulous!

No one in their right mind would want to come to and end with Lara. She is magic.

Beautiful singer , beautiful song,....brought me to tears....💖💖💖

I am glad that you discover Lara.   She's an amazing singer.

Please react to the entire concert, it is so phenomenal!

I first heard this song when Josh Grobin sang it.  Then, I found Lara's performance.  They both did an amazing job.  I have always loved Lara Fabian's beautiful voice.

Lara's concerts have been and will continue to be a benchmark for the French-speaking world.

Beautiful Lara!  She not only sings a song, she is the song!  She’s incredible! ❤

Siempre que escucho está canción, me hace llorar... En una entrevista ella dijo que escribió estás letras, en el piso de su baño mientras lloraba. Es su canción favorita en inglés ❤
