When I bought my GX here in New Zealand I got a fantastic discount 6,000 off the normal retail price and the dealer was incredibly good to me and swapped out the stock tyres for road Sixes at no extra cost! the bike handles great, the engine and quick shifter are amazing! Yes the brakes could be better but they actually work fine, maybe at some stage I will just replace the brake pads to something better. Overall I really like the bike and won't be changing anytime soon, it's hard to fault. Ride comfort is so much better than my previous Yamaha MT09 SP which is the main reason I switched bikes. Thanks Dan for the review mate 👍

Both are gorgeous bikes,  I do not think you could go wrong with either. Thanks for the posting.

Happy Sunday Dan!  Enjoyed the review/ comparison.   Agree with you on the looks of the Suzuki.  Though the Honda is no slouch. Thx ✌️

I own a 1000GX since june 2024. I asked the shop to install Road6GT and road handling is very good. About the brakes, I put EBC FA447HH pads, much better than the OEM although made by Brembo. Next fix: a seat with more foam, I can support one inch higher. The engine is a marvel, full and torquey everywhere

It’s a tough call since every bike has its own quirks. I love that K5 engine in the Suzuki, and you’re spot on about those stock tyres. The Honda packs a lot of kit for the money, too. Personally, I think they both look great. It’s a hard choice that’ll definitely come down to what you prefer.
That's my Sunday viewing sorted,
Great bike comparison Dan.😊👍

Dan, while watching the video, I can tell that the Honda was delayed before it really took off. High RPM power. And when you rode the Suzuki it was really obvious that it was strong right off the bat.

Chopoed my 1600 gt in for the suzuki. I abs love this bike. Yes tyres are shockingly bad, brakes are perfectly adequate, and i have ordered a comfort seat! It does tend to overstear a bit but i think tyres may sort that out. The motor is fantastic as is the quickshifter! New tyres and decent pads for next year!

I had a GSX-S1000GT and I changed the tyres to the Sportsmart IV and it considerably improved the handling. I've also owned the Hornet SP. I haven't yet tried the CB1000GT. I agree with you that the GSX engine has loads more umph lower down and you find yourself going at ridiculous speeds in second and definitely third gear. For motorways you don't even really need 4-6 except for saving petrol. The GSX was cramped even with a 32" inseam,, strangely and it isn't the sharpest turning bike. I loved the Hornet SP, it's one of a kind but I'm not really tempted by the CBGT. I'd rather have the CB1000F, but I don't do long tours at the moment.

Gx owner here, tyres are definitely the biggest upgrade you can do, I put road 6 on immediately.   I'd be interested to see if the honda has a 55 profile rear or 50 like the suzuki.. it will naturally tip in a lot better if so.  Again, lots of people go 55 on the suzuki aftermarket.  Prefer the look of the gx and my comfort seat / tyres combo improves the bike loads. However I totally agree that the honda with great stock tyre, non wooded brakes, heated grips and centre stand standard is a better stock proposition,  even before the £1000 change.

Kawasaki 1100SX, as it's an inline 4 sports tourer. I believe the Versys is classified as a tall rounder, albeit an inline 4.

Agree about Suzuki stock tyres, when I bought a new bandit 1250 in 2016 it had Dunlop tyres and they were terrible, changed them for road 5’s (at the time) and a world of difference.

Nice comparison. The Honda's more refined but maybe the Suzuki has more potential? Not sure as difficult to tell until you get some decent tyres & pads on it. Although out of the box it's definitely the Honda as like you rightly say, you're testing what's come out of the factory. You could fit better tyres & pads on the Honda too of course but from the Suzuki's perspective, you shouldn't have to. Interestingly Suzuki have put decent tyres on their SV7G-X which is a budget bike so maybe they've finally realised they've been doing nobody any favours by putting very average tyres on their new bikes previously. Let's hope so.

Both fantastic bikes, I prefer the Suzuki even if the tyres let it down they can be changed.  It has bit more torque lower in the rev range compared to the Honda if I understand it and my backside starts to complain after about 2 hours no matter what seat I’m sat on. Would be great if you also managed to pull in the versys 1100 for comparison too.

With this i would get the wider handles for the Suzuki and risers i go for the Suzuki because of the engine

I can tell you about my short list and figure out if one if those lights any bulbs 😬:
V100 mandello S(wind edition, no ugly afterthought radar in front)
cb1000gt
tracer 9 gt(non automatic, of course)
and the wild card, with a fabulous sounding Bialbero Corsa Corta EVO 87 degrees v-twin engine; I know it is more to the ADV side but, not really, consider the size and the weight.

The front end of the Suzuki looks amazing, and the engine is definitely more exciting. That said, t I'd probably also get the Honda because it's a better value and would be easier to live with day to day. But both bikes are excellent and I'd be happy with either.

Suzuki needs 2 turns less preload on the front (lower R/H fork leg). Stock tyres are more than adequate, the main issue is the low profile rear making initial turn-in a little slow but they are more capable than most riders. Honda has better tyres and heated grips but it's advantages ends there. Suzukis screen is better and panniers will take a helmet.

I’ve test road the Honda..chassis is very good ..turns very easily..comfort is very good..brakes are good..gearbox is easy and smooth..wind protection is not particularly good..maybe a high screen..I would describe the engine as weak..you have to thrash it to get it going..very disappointing….it is a shame..but because of the engine it has no grin factor..

I prefer the looks of the Suzuki and it has a better engine so it would be an easy choice for me.

3 things: 1) please do a comparison with versys 1100. 2) how does Suzuki compares to Tracer 9? 3) I wonder how this bike would work if pads and tyres were changed...
