George A. Romero’s final zombie story is officially one step closer to becoming a reality! Twilight of the Dead has FINALLY finished filming, nearly a decade after Romero’s passing — and now the big question is: Will this actually live up to Romero’s legacy?
In this video, I’m talking about the latest Twilight of the Dead update, including the completion of filming, the current cast, the Paz Brothers taking over directing duties, and the involvement of legendary effects artist Greg Nicotero, who has a very personal connection to Romero’s zombie universe. (AV Club)
But while I’m excited to finally see this movie happen, I also have some BIG concerns.
This isn’t a George A. Romero-directed movie. The project has gone through major changes over the years, including changes to the director and lead actress. And while the story originated from Romero’s work, other writers and filmmakers have helped bring it to the screen.
So can Twilight of the Dead actually capture the spirit, social commentary, atmosphere, and practical horror that made Romero’s Dead movies so special?
Or are we looking at a movie that simply carries the George A. Romero name?
I’m breaking down what we currently know, what I’m hoping this movie delivers, what worries me, and why I still REALLY want this to be great.
After Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead, could Twilight finally give us the conclusion Romero envisioned?
🔥 What are YOU expecting from Twilight of the Dead?
Are you excited? Concerned? Both?
Let me know in the comments!
