Den's dialogue was the best. "The Samaritains were engaged" "I thought we could make up over a glass of wine, toss a coin to see who was going to cook breakfast tomorrow morning". 😂😂😂
It's really interesting. 2004 EE gets so much stick, but those scenes between Den and Chrissie just sparkle. So interesting to watch these characters. Chrissie worked so well because she was the only person who truly "got" Den, and was a match for him. Everyone else he could wrap round his little finger, but not Chrissie.
Ironically, she truly was his soulmate. But, as wonderfully explored here, that was never enough for Den. Something was broken in him that even he couldn't fully understand. But he didn't exactly try to better himself either.
Mannnn what a truly brilliant character Den Watts was.
Tracy Ann played this to perfection. Wanting to help someone despite them breaking your heart time and time again. Telling yourself you're done and meaning it. The conflict between your head and your heart. Hoping that this time will be different despite knowing it probably won't be.
