The Wheel of Fate has spoken… and now we have to live with its choices! 😂
Our Wheel of Fate picked the patterns, we took those patterns all the way to New York City to hunt for the perfect fabric, and now it’s finally time to find out if this whole crazy idea is actually going to WORK.
Before we cut into our beautiful NYC fabric, we’re making wearable mock-ups to test the patterns, check the fit, and hopefully avoid any sewing disasters. Will we end up with two great garments… or did the Wheel of Fate set us up for failure?

I have a couple of boxes of vintage patterns that are much too small that I want to use as inspiration. I plan to use a modern pattern in my size as my base. I have my eye on a 1970’s safari skirt and blouse pattern.
Now for the practical comment: while there are ways to adjust sleeve width so that it will fit Mandy better, it's a huge pain. (If you adjust the armscye (hole in the top) just be sure to also adjust the sleeve head or you will have a bad time attaching them.) I know the challenge was to use this particular pattern, but I think you gave it a solid attempt and experienced the particular.... joy.... of adjusting patterns more than about 4" in any direction. Personally I would take the Blanca and adjust the pattern to not have a waist seam - you should be able to lay the pattern pieces over each other and cut/trace one giant piece. Just remember there is seam allowance on both sides so you will want the top and bottom to overlap 2x seam allowance!
And if you are looking for a youtube channel on pattern drafting, while her aesthetic is pretty much the polar opposite of yours, TheClosetHistorian does a FANTASTIC job walking through a bunch of different types of pattern drafting/modifications. And "pattern bashing" - combining different elements of different commercial patterns that already fit - is a great way to get more comfortable with what makes up 2/3 drafting!
