This isn't a video about losing weight. It's a video about stopping the fight with your body.
For years, I thought the solution was to go on a stricter diet, train longer, eliminate carbs, or find the next shortcut. I tried detoxes, extreme diets, supplements, liposuction, mesotherapy, endless hours of cardio... and even as an endocrinologist, I still didn't understand what my body really needed.
Today, I want to share with you a story I've never told in this level of detail. My story.
I'm Dr. Ana María Kausel, an endocrinologist specializing in metabolism, perimenopause, and menopause. But before becoming an endocrinologist, I was an overweight child, a teenager trapped in the diet cycle, and a woman who spent years believing the problem was a lack of willpower.
In this video, I'll tell you how I changed my relationship with food, exercise, and my body. How I went from being obsessed with the scale to understanding that true transformation doesn't happen when you lose weight, but when you learn to build health.
I talk about my experience with insulin resistance, prediabetes, GLP-1 receptor agonists, body recomposition, strength training, carbohydrates, muscle mass, and the habits that truly changed my life.
It's not a perfection story. It's a learning story. And if you're tired of starting a new diet every Monday, I hope it's also a story of hope.
In this video, you'll learn:
Why diets stopped working for me.
My experience living with excess weight, insulin resistance, and prediabetes.
What I learned after decades of searching for "the perfect diet."
How my relationship with food changed.
My experience using GLP-1 medications.
Why strength training transformed my health.
The importance of muscle mass during perimenopause and menopause.
What body recomposition is and why it's so much more important than weight.
How to stop obsessing over the scale.
The habits that science says have the greatest impact on metabolic health and longevity.
If there's one thing I want you to take away from this video, it's this: you don't need to keep punishing your body to start taking care of it.
Science shows that metabolic health isn't built on extreme restrictions, but on sustainable habits, good nutrition, strength training, quality sleep, and lots of patience.
Dr. Ana María Kausel is an endocrinologist specializing in women's hormonal health.
