I LOVE what you said about seeing Shakespeare as a nameless man. What a brilliant device Maggie O'Farrell employed in doing that. Well done! Great review.

I am listening though my eyes are all on the splendid glimpse of the garden behind you... marvellous 😃🤩
Grateful for sharing

I’m reading Hamnet right now! Found your video because I’m enjoying it and wanted to hear more people’s thoughts on it.

I read this book in a day in two sittings - I was travelling back from a long journey on a train - and when I started reading part ii I really needs the loo and told myself I would go when there was a chapter break - jokes on me 😭

I too was brought in by the hype - otherwise I do not think I would have ever picked it up - but I also ended up loving ‘Hamnet’ so all was well ❤️

Now on my TBR. I’m watching some of your “old” videos. ❤️

I agree with your discussion of WS as a nameless man, how this device actually serves to flesh him out.  BTW, one other thing he was called is “your latin boy” 9from Bartholemew to Agnes).  Also, all the Stratford townsfolk disbelieving that WS, who they remember as a wringing, hapless youth could afford to buy that big house.  I became a subscriber, based on this review.

'Her mother, however, refuses to give up her bed, saying it was the bed she was married in and she will not have another, so the new, grander bed is put in the room for guests.' - Who got the poignancy of this extract instantly? #Hamet by Maggie O'Farrell #amreading #Shakespeare

Came here after Joe Alwyn mentioning this book.

Your review is very interesting. I'm currently reading this book, I simply love it! Thank you for sharing all this information 😊

Great review! Came across this book whilst on a bit of a Shakespeare binge - about a quarter of the way through and really loving it so far

Thank you for your great review, I've been wanting to read the book and your words encouraged me to finally do it. Best book review I've seen on you tube compared to a famous YouTuber that gives short reviews

Love how enthusiastic you are in this review! I’ve got a hold on Hamnet at my library so I’m looking forward to reading it, especially after hearing your review!

I loved this book. Great review. Thank you!

I am reading Hamnet at the moment it is a remarkable book.

I love this discussion of "Hamnet."  It enhanced my enjoyment of the novel.  Thank you.

The reviews of this are so polarising. You make it sound great though 👍

This is a very good book. Highly recommend

Ahhh Thankyou for your review (I’m not a Shakespeare guru & also was a bit hesitant due to the hype) but after your review I’m going to try it out, can’t wait. Thank you for your review!!

Just finished reading this. Started off a bit slow but it ended up being a pretty solid work of fiction. The middle section is the strongest. Very strong. Loses a little bit of steam towards the end. Seemed somewhat rushed and incomplete leading up to the conclusion. Can definitely see why the novel has been adapted to a film. There’s a good possibility the film will be better since a lot of fat in the novel can be cut. A solid book nevertheless.

Great review.  I read it in March and fell in love with it.  I also loved the movie. Have you seen the movie?
