Andrew, I just passed my PMP Exam! I took your TIA 35 hour course and read your book. Thank you for passing on so much value to the PMP community!!!

Andrew covered the first 8 formulas beautifully for EVM. For the last 4 EVM, use this simple mnemonic:

Forecast → Need → Difference → Efficiency

(EAC → ETC → VAC → TCPI)

1. EAC (Estimate at Completion)

Formula: EAC = BAC ÷ CPI

✅ Forecast the final project cost.

Memory Tip:
EAC = End At Cost → What will the project cost when it finishes?

2. ETC (Estimate to Complete)

Formula: ETC = EAC − AC

✅ Need = How much more money is needed to finish the project?

Memory Tip:
ETC = Extra To Complete

3. VAC (Variance at Completion)

Formula: VAC = BAC − EAC

✅ Difference between the original budget and the forecasted final cost.

Memory Tip:
VAC = Budget Difference at the end

Positive = Under budget ✅
Negative = Over budget ❌
4. TCPI (To Complete Performance Index)

Formula: TCPI = (BAC − EV) ÷ (BAC − AC)

✅ Efficiency required to finish within the approved budget.

Memory Tip:
TCPI = Work Left ÷ Money Left

One-Line Summary

Forecast → Need → Difference → Efficiency
EAC → ETC → VAC → TCPI

I took your online TIA 35 Hr class and got your book. Today I passed my PMP Exam,  Thank you Andrew!

thank you so much for this video. my exam is in 2 weeks. I'm definitely coming back as PMP CERTIFIED

Hello andrew. I just passed the PMP exam last week. AT in all domains.
Thanks for your videos and lectures.

Minute 36:41 - you used the CPI from the previous example and then the rest of the calculations were based on this mistake. The CPI in that exercise  was actually  0.94, as shown at min 34:18. Otherwise, thank you for all your hard work and sharing, it's really helpful!

Just passed my first attempt AT/AT/AT
Watched you sparingly during my prep has been very helpful for me! Thanks Andrew.

I have my exam in the upcoming days. Thank you so much for all this information.

This is the first long format CAPM video I didn't fall asleep. Thank you sm! Great content.

Students may have confusion in TCPI Formula and the calculation  in the video.

There are two common formulas for TCPI based on whether you are calculating it using the Budget at Completion (BAC) or a revised estimate (EAC).

i.e TCPI based on BAC and TCPI based on EAC.

1. TCPI Based on BAC (Budget at Completion):
This formula is used when you want to calculate how efficiently the remaining work needs to be completed within the original budget.

TCPI based on BAC is equal to BAC-EV divided by BAC-AC

BAC: Budget at Completion (the original total budget for the project)
EV: Earned Value (the value of work actually completed)
AC: Actual Cost (the total cost incurred so far)

2. TCPI Based on EAC (Estimate at Completion):
This formula is used when you are working with a revised budget (EAC), and you want to calculate the efficiency needed to finish the project within this new estimate.
TCPI based on EAC= BAC-EV divided by EAC -AC

EAC: Estimate at Completion (the revised total budget for the project)
Interpretation:
TCPI > 1: Indicates that greater efficiency is required to complete the project within the budget.
TCPI = 1: Means the current performance must be maintained to complete the project on budget.
TCPI < 1: Suggests the project can be completed with less effort than currently being applied, indicating favorable conditions.
TCPI helps project managers identify whether the project team needs to improve performance to meet budget targets.

I am just here to announce that I passed my CAPM with AT in all domains. I did the CAPM course through the PMI institute, I had ZERO PM experience or knowledge prior and didn't do much research before purchasing that course but after I finished it, I discovered you and watched some of your videos; It definitely helped me with understanding the concepts/calcs. On my version of the exam, there were about 3 calc questions where you had to find the actual number and about 3-5 concept-related questions (ex: what is the formula for SV). Anyway good luck to anyone writing their exam this year.

THANK YOU for these formulas! I just passed my CAPM! As soon as I got to the test pc, I wrote them all down and was able to reference them throughout the exam. Thank you for this content.

This video is one of ur best and very underrated Andrew

Just passed CAPM today. Had 7 questions regarding EVM. Believe it or not all 7 were related to SV = schedule variance. SV related to EV and PV and what those mean. If you can explain the rational and understand the real mindset and meaning then you’re going to pass the CAPM. This video really helped. My strategy is probably an outlier to most: took the TIA 35 hour PMP course in addition to the PMI CAPM 23 hour course. Kind of a weird strategy for most but hey it’s what worked for me. I plan on taking the PMP in the next couple of months! I have no PM experience and I work for an employer with no project capability. It’s more or less an operations management facility. Occasional small projects do surface so I am going to use my new cert and training to help with small projects.

A must watch, especially close to the exam date. Thank you!

Thank you for this video. Extremely helpful in enhancing my understanding. I made sure to like a subscribe! Never change your teaching style, it is perfect !

wow this is so helpful, thank you! I took the PMI course and found that it was not very helpful or engaging. . Since watching your videos and getting your exam simulator, I already feel much more confident in passing my exam in two weeks. THANK YOU!

Just passed my PMP exam today and I wanted to thank you for your great videos helping me pass.

passed on my first try (with above target!) thanks to your videos!
