In this prequel game to both Pitch Black and the Chronicles of Riddick proper, Vin Diesel must escape the notorious Butcher Bay prison colony before Xzibit and friends show him the true meaning of slam. This is somehow one of the best movie licensed games ever.

Dark Athena I'm already editing so that'll be sooner rather than later. I got sick for a bit along with some other hurdles in January.

Vin Diesel doesn't get enough praise for basically pushing his OC onto the masses and having it be semi-successful. I genuinely hope Furya doesn't get canned, and maybe Nightdive or GOG (under the new preservation program) can get Butcher Bay to a better state than it's currently in.

"It's not the fall that kills you, it's the aspect ratio bugging out before the sudden crash."

In Pitch Black the director wanted Riddick to escape his bonds by dislocating his shoulders. He was arguing loudly with the effects guy about how they could achieve this realistically when Vin Diesel says "I can just do that". And he did. That scene is real.

"I play the hand I was dealt, then I cheat." Is unironically a banger line. Similar vibes to replying "thanks, I stole it" when someone compliments something in my house.

The great thing about Mandalore is that he always talks about the most enjoyable part of playing a game: installing it

My favorite cheesy one-liner from these games (I think it might be Dark Athena) is when Riddick gets his ulak blades and says something like “No law ever written is as strong as cold steel”. Vin is able to sell edgy lines like this like no one else I know. He must be a hoot at his DnD sessions.

Amazing how Riddick saying "f**k" became a running meme within the Gmod community

Pitch Black is my example of going into a movie blind and being completely blown away. My friend and I went to the video rental store and just thought that the cover looked cool.

Okay, extending the "it's the sudden stop at the end" line to go throughout the video was a genius joke.

The guards talking among themselves had me i tears.
- You seen him?
- Nah, just heard what he looks like. Kinda like that guy"
- Right, okay.
And they go on with their day.

“The dark is afraid of me.”

I can feel the essence of Crush 40 coursing through my veins with that one. And I mean that in the best way possible.

I remember reading an interview with Diesel when they were developing the game, and it was surprising how invested and excited he was.

Riddick was that one Player Character in DnD that always brought up that they had dark vision.

God, getting old crusty games to run properly is such a magical experience, it feels like trying to plug in your old crusty phone and it only charges from a specific angle and you have to hold it at that exact angle for it to charge

I like to pretend every piece of media Vin Diesel stars in is set in the same universe. I call it the Vin Diesel Cinematic Universe, or the VDCU. Riddick is all about family, and he's also an immortal witch hunter.

When Pitch Black was filmed, there was no major story related to the character of Riddick. This is due to the fact that Pitch Black was not shot with the hope of launching a series of sequels. So this film exists as a completely isolated episode in the Riddick saga, and for the moment is more of a spin-off than a prequel or part of the “Chronicles of Riddick” cinematic universe.

You gotta respect a man who continues to show his self-insert OC to the public. No matter how cringe Riddick may have been at times, I can't help but see him as a little boy's idea of "the coolest dude ever!"

6:00 "In Vin Diesel terms, he's a drow gloomstalker ranger" Catching Pitch Black in theaters, then learning Vin is big into D&D--ultimate teen crush 😍
