I saw this, and then thought "extra credits".

Bingo

The people who cry about this are the same people who fantasize about killing or imprisoning all the people they disagree with politically

@ephraimwinslow 5 months ago

Oh, and whenever someone says:

"Allowed to portray"

They ALWAYS leave out 'by who' from the equation. And that's important. Because if the best answer you've got is the govt.?

...Yeah. Yeah. See the last 6~ years for details.

Remember, EC also thinks orcs are black people "coded" and that playing as Germans or nazis suddenly makes you a notzi.

Extra Credits became a total joke when they started to defend loot boxes, arguing that companies "would use the money to fund more games," and not what really happened: they tried to put them in all games to maximize profits

@mrbigglezworth42 5 months ago

This coming from the same people who said playing the Nazis in a video game makes you a Nazi in real life. The jokes write themselves.

"They say video games make you violent. But I say, not having my video games is making me pretty fucking violent!"

-Paraphrased Alucard from Hellsing: Ultimate Abridged.

Yes, show Teletubbies to inmates and they'll be hugging each other all day!
The idiocy nowadays......

Sounds like projecting, Extra Credits.

The western rage of Doomslayer and Jane Austin would be unrecognizable without The Iliad.

I can’t believe that my college professor used Extra credit for “what good game development is.”

@DarkPulseApostles 5 months ago

That’s not true. I was a bad person wayyyyy before I played my first M17+ rated game 😊

Hatred goes full circle into being Edgy the Hedgy levels of goofy. I hear "My name is not important..." and I just start laughing.

I was speaking with a guy about this. He believed violent video games make you evil unless the game explicitly tells you the people you are wronging are also evil. Extra-judicial and sometimes very torturous murder is fine in Hitman because the voice you work for told you the pixels on the screen are more evil.

@jmvt3 5 months ago

The Iliad being the foundation of western literature isn't a new take.

@Tedphoenician 5 months ago

Telling people not to do something, who were planning on doing it, doesn't work. Just look at a simple example: laws.

"Because it's so much fun, Jan!"

Sure, violence can be explored in a mature way in video games. But also to normal people, who don't have their head up their ass, it can be fun to do stuff you would never want to do in real life do like extreme violence.
