We need to stop being consumers, and become customers again

Makes me wanna collect more physical games right now

Man this Store looks like a dream come true. Don't have a store like that nearby.

They thought vinyl was dead and now look - it’s making a comeback. People are sick of paying for subscription upon subscription and not actually “owning” anything.

fck this digital bs world

I'm in Brazil, and I still see a lot of people here who prefer physical media—myself included.😊

Nope, your going to be busier than ever

My last console. I have enough games that will last me the rest of my life

I like how when it comes to physical media and keeping gaming stores and business , it's just a flick of a switch. But when it comes to something completely useless like a car dealership , we have franchise laws keeping those people in business when they serve no purpose whatsoever.

I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t even think about people with shops like this, I only thought about the costumers, but they’re messing up so much with this decision.

Boycott Sony
Give them nothing.

I typically buy my kids one video game for their birthday and one for Christmas. My 7 year old didn't even know that there were Super Mario Galaxy games but he watched the Galaxy movie. Seeing him open up the Switch version of Galaxy 1+2 and him being able to just put it in the console and play was great.
Giving him a piece of cardboard with a download code just wouldn't hit the same.

I will never give Sony another dime until they reverse this decision.

Used physical games will be worth more than ever.

Sadly, in most countries. The physical game industry basically died 10 years ago. Local game stores have closed down rapidly. The only way to get physical games was by traveling far away or by ordering online and paying 2-3 times more than the original price. Why? Because most people stopped buying physical games and prefer to purchase them digitally.

Sony's decision to end the production of physical games was understandable, but it lacked tact. Sure, the physical game community is smaller, but they're loyal and have been here since the dawn of Playstation. They deserve respect & genuine consideration from Sony. The correct step was to reduce the amount of production. And if they can't even do that, they should have open a limited edition pre-order window for the physical version. Something! That'll show people that they at least care about their loyal customers and players. This is definitely not the way. Bad decision and bad PR.

My Ebay store been getting a lot of traffic since Sony announced this.

I just had a sad realisation that there are kids out there who have never physically opened a present to find a video game inside. Worst part is they will never know what they missed out on. Being a 90s baby is both a blessing and a curse.

Just today my my 8 year old Nephew was having an interest in Nintendo Gamecube, he told me "My Dad is gonna get me a Switch 2 and a Gamecube for Christmas" and just told him " he may get you a Switch 2, but he cant get you a Gamecube that easily since Nintendo stopped making them long ago", people will always have interest in all popular conseles, it will never die.

It's like Pokémon saying they're not coming out with physical cards anymore. And it's only digital

I owned a small game store from 2005 to 2015. We had a great time during the PS3 and Xbox 360 era; the market for second-hand games was booming. However, when the PS4 came out, things began to change as most customers started switching to digital downloads. Some guys would download a game, start playing at midnight, and then show up at the store the next day just to say they had already beaten it. Because of this, with every new game release, fewer people bought from the store, as they preferred downloading them to play earlier. Our sales plummeted, so in the end, I sold the store and changed careers to become a software engineer.
