Poetry is for the soul & reflection

I’m now in my 80s and have recently become interested in poetry. As a teenager, a dear boyfriend gave me the “The Prophet”. I remembered the deep impact it had on me. So happy to have rediscovered it! Your presentation was heartwarming and informative. Thank you 🙏

This was an inspiring video, Lieven. I will turn 70 by the end of this year, and have not read anything by Kahlil Gibran, but now I will. The Prophet is now in my library of audiobooks, and i will listen while taking a long walk the Singapore's Botanic Garden, which is just behind where I live. Thank you for sharing your inspiration. 🙏

As a student of Gibran's work, this documentary really captured the essence of not only the life of a great man, but also inspire the next wave of creators and writers alike, to see the beauty of life in hidden things, to seek profound insight. Thank you so much for blessing us with this video.

Defeat is one of his greatest poems.

“And is not fear of need, need itself?”

“Is not dread of thirst when your well is full, the thirst that is unquenchable?”

Gilbran dropped so much wisdom in that book.
Read it MANY times

' Defeat, My Defeat.' How sublime and magnificent is this work. "We shall sit in the
sun with a will and we shall be dangerous.

"When the right teachers or mentors come into one's life, they will always positively influence and shape the destiny of any young person" is a quote I'll remember, alongside this wonderful book and video!

Gibran Kahlil is my favourite writer. I think I am spiritually connected to him. I have translated a couple of his works into Uzbek! So happy to see followers of Gibran here❤

Khalil Gibran is my first touch to Literature. I was unaware that I just touched a poem inked by the whole of the university onto a piece of paper.

The Prophet is amazing. Truly inspiring and thoughtful work. It helped me after my acrimonious divorce - On Children. Sadly children are used as weapons during a divorce. It is safer to walk away and know that you had always done your best for them and tell them when you saw them they are loved and welcome. No matter what happens after that it is for them to make the choices.
