July - August in Crete 🇬🇷 2026

We traveled from Belarus to Warsaw by bus instead of car, as our car's red lights prevented us from entering.
We chose to travel there via Berestovitsa, as there was a lower risk of border delays (we returned via Brest). We booked the transfer through Intercars, and overall, we had no issues with them; everything was simple and convenient.
We searched for the plane on Aviasales and booked it on the Ryanair website.

We paid for the apartment on Booking (the Belarusian BSB card processed the payment), and connected to an Orange Flex in Belarus—a virtual Polish SIM card with good EU roaming coverage—and the connection was easy.

In this review, we'll share in more detail which Crete locations stood out to us most 💘 (Balos, Elafonisi, Chania, Rethymno, the water park in Heraklion, Lake Kournas, Kera Beach, Almyrida, and Kalives).

We'll also share our experience renting a car, our hotel Kastro Kera (thank you for the comfort), the island's views and atmosphere, traditional food, and our overall impression of Crete.
