Somewhere between Bentonville and Little Rock, in the ridges and hollows of the Arkansas mountains, two of the largest planned communities in the United States are filling up faster than anyone who runs them expected. Hot Springs Village, west of Little Rock in the Ouachita foothills, covers about twenty six thousand acres behind a single gated entrance, which makes it larger by area than the city of Miami and, by the count kept in the trade, the biggest gated community in the country.
