The family is the Ray family. I used to teach Barbara and daughter Sarah. They were nuts. She used to give me a bundle of cash for teaching them for an hour. Madness
I used to go there in the late 80's and 90's and it was known as the Grange Manor.
I am gutted to see my memories laying in bits all over the floor 😢, totally heart-breaking.
My late first husband Gordon Sowerby took me there on dates, we'd enter through the main entrance and turn left to climb a beautiful wooden staircase. At the top there was a large open plan bar, he'd have a pint of bitter and I'd have a whisky sour. Ian St John used to drink in the upstairs bar. It was classy and not at all like it us now, I could cry.
Gareacre comprehensive was over the road and my husband went there (he went there with his twin brother Malcolm). My late husband was birn in 1964, his sister Yvonne was born in 1959 and his elder Brother Keith was born in 1958.
I went back with my second husband when it had been renamed 'The Crying Tree'. I recall we had a Sunday lunch in a room at the bottom on the right as you walk in.
I worked in Gateacre Village and the new owner came in, he said he had been in the Twin Towers and had evacuated just in time.
There was a pub on the opposite side of Gateacre Brow called The Falstaff, Terry from Brookside used to drink there.
On the same side of the Brow as The Grange Manor was a lovely French restaurant 'The L'Ambassador. Like all my memories, it was sadly closed and a new row of shops and an Aldi were built.

10:35 This is a reproduction and photo-cutout board of Sir Anthony van Dyck's Equestrian Portrait of Charles I with M. de Saint-Antoine, painted in 1633. King Charles I of England mounted on a white charger, riding through a majestic classical triumphal arch.
On the right side, beneath the green drapery, stands Pierre Antoine Bourdin, Seigneur de Saint-Antoine (the King's riding master and equerry) in red attire, holding the King's helmet.

The structure of the building seems fairly intact and whole. No wet spots or encroaching wildlife. If someone takes care of it, it would be a good free shelter and a home.
