In this lesson we complete our study of John chapter 8. As has been mentioned however, chapters 7, 8, 9 and the first part of 10 in the Gospel of John all refer to a series of conversations, an ongoing conversation if you will, between Jesus and the religious leaders in the Temple. The conversation, or confrontation, started during the Feast of Booths and continued for a few days afterwards. And this was about 6 months prior to Jesus' crucifixion. In this lesson, we find that the conversation between Jesus and the religious leaders had continued to increase in hostility. In fact, by the end of it the religious leaders would attempt to stone Jesus confirming what Jesus had been saying since chapter 7 - that the religious leaders were planning on killing Him. During these final verses of chapter 8, Jesus for the fourth time claimed to be "I Am" - the convent name of God given to Moses.  He warned the religious leaders and all listening that they needed to listen to His words carefully because they led to eternal life. We see the heart of our Lord as He persisted in His teachings and attempts to lead all to God the Father and ultimately to full reconciliation with God and eternal life while being attacked, persecuted, and rejected by the very people He came to save. Jesus, through the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, is still trying to reach people who don't yet know Him in order that they may too be reconciled to God for all eternity. If you haven't yet seriously considered Jesus' words, please take time to do so and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. (recorded 9/20/2026)
