I wad surprised to see his sudden rise but it makes sense now. Dude was fighting in 2-3 months interval and he always took short notice fights lmao. Fighting the number 1 contender after three weeks since your last fight is some fearless shit.

It's just amazing how he could win a UFC title just 5 years after starting MMA. It usually takes at least 10 to 15 years, especially in the lighter weight classes.
