So, I have one of those DeWalt level lasers.  I was using it to create a straight line for putting up siding on my house.  I kept thinking I was seeing strange letters in the laser line as it diffused on the edge of the siding.  I was befuddled and spent half the day trying to figure out what I was seeing.
Eventually I disassembled the laser unit and what I found is that the manner in which the prism that turns the columnated linear laser beam into a wide flat beam is mounted, is refracting the manufacturing information that is laser etched into the prism body.  
Basically, model info and some Chinese symbols (probably the same info in Chinese) are laser etched into the butt end beam flattening prism.  The text gets wildly twisted, repeated and distorted into the wide flat beam.

I did not need DMT, though I suspect I would have noticed it sooner if I had taken some.

I took a shit on acid one time and looked down at it after and saw matrix like code running all over it. I called it a DATA DUMP

I've smoked dmt well over a hundred times before the age of 25. I'm 28 now and haven't done anything of the sort since. This substance has unveiled to me the most beautiful but incomprehensible ideas and concepts one could ever think. It sounds cliche but literal answers to the universe and curiosities everybody has deep down I'm talking the fabrics of reality. Completely answered but then stripped away before you come back to this. It can allow you to see and understand anything while simultaneously leaving you with more answers. It's a existentially dreadful feeling knowing you saw and understood what its all about but never quite being able to remember it like you did in that moment. It's poetic in a way. We aren't supposed to know it all but if you must, it's possible to take a glimpse. But know you can't keep it..

Since this has now gathered a lot of attention I think I'll do an extensive article in the future, but for now:
The "code" and the transparent wall are one event seen twice, and neither needs a simulation.
DMT is a 5-HT2A agonist. It raises cortical gain in V1 and tips excitation past inhibition, so the resting state destabilises (a Turing bifurcation) and the cortex generates structure on its own: the Klüver form constants, meaning lattices, gratings, honeycombs. The laser writes nothing; it just supplies high-contrast speckle for the pattern to seed on.
The wall "goes transparent" because luminance is a depth cue. Once surface segmentation drops, the wall's brightness map re-renders as depth, dark receding and bright advancing, so a flat surface becomes a volume you see into.
The "code" is pareidolia at high gain. Two neighbouring patches of ventral visual cortex handle it: the fusiform face area does faces, the visual word form area does letters. Ambiguous symmetric structure gets forced into one or the other, so people flip between reading code and being watched by an entity.

None of this makes the experience smaller. DMT, and its relatives psilocin (4-HO-DMT) and 5-MeO-DMT, are staggeringly powerful, remarkably benign for what they do, and still barely understood. Feynman said knowing the science of a flower only adds to its beauty, and it works the same way here: watching your own cortex bifurcate into the exact geometry a century of maths predicted is more astonishing than any "source code," not less. That is the reason to research these compounds harder, and also the reason to keep the wild claims off them. They do not need to be a portal to another dimension to be one of the most mindboggling things a human brain can do to itself.

Some of us see this in the morning when we are awakened suddenly. I can't remember the name but I've been able to hold on to the code for about 30 seconds max. I'm curious to see this, but the fact that I see code swirling in different patterns and "alive" on some mornings convinced me we are in one.

Why can’t they show a simple test where two people look at exactly the same spot and write down the characters they see?

I took way too much acid in a ski cabin and i got randomly really scared, went outside and whole heard of elk had a bugle like sound, then started speaking an insane language to each other and to me, i got freaked out even more and went back to my room, after an hour i had a yavapai painting coming off the wall spewing random symbols, i refused to try and analyze each “letter”. Once I decided i had enough of looking at symbols and my blood pumping through my veins, I tried to occupy myself by listening to music. Immediately I go deaf and the entire room lights on fire, scared shitless I pray to God to save me. I then have an intense ego death and coming to Jesus moment. Never done it again, probably never will. To this day it is the freakiest experience I’ve ever had
