im sorry you had to experience this, thanks for experiencing this

27:43 "Yes, Susie, i need you to go fetch Kris for me. No, i cannot go for them myself, i must stay here in the lake and aurafarm in the sunset (54:30) for when they arrive."

My interpretation is that Noelle wasn't trying to die, she was trying to leave the boundaries of the game, BUT I also think she fully accepted and embraced the possibility that this could mean dying.

"No one can make you get out of bed, honey" right before you LITERALLY have to MAKE Kris get out of bed to start the chapter is such a brutal gut punch

I know the concept of having to spam "proceed" to move forwards is terrifying, like aggresively digging your own grave, but man Ed's camera shaking with the effort made me giggle

If you say "Stop", NOTHING would change. Noelle would mentally become Kris and say "Proceed". Terrifying

I felt actually sick after seeing the weird route in this chapter. Susie tried so hard to cheer up Kris she didn’t have any friends till Kris and it’s very clear Kris matters to her just as much as Noelle. Poor Kris was showing all the signs that something was very wrong. I can’t imagine what’s gonna go through Susie mind, or Ralsei for that matter since Ralsei couldn’t even reach Kris in the light world. I can only imagine Susie will throw herself even further into the dark world since the only friend she has left is Ralsei.

The thing about 1:04:50 is that… she couldn’t be a different Noelle before. We actually HAVE changed her. She forces you to proceed so long as she can speak. THAT’S what makes it off-putting for people, I’d say. Knowing everything she says here makes sense, is true, and simultaneously is extremely dangerous and wrong. She was strong when casting Snowgrave, but only because Kris (we) asked her to. She’s never been that strong in any context, no one else makes her powerful; she’s weak. She’s the shy girlfriend, the dutiful student, the obedient daughter. When “Kris” tells her to be strong, she finally is. And with that, she gains enough strength to overwrite OUR choice. If she can speak, she proceeds. Kris only needs to be present. They can tell her to stop, to get out of the water. We can tell her that. But she’s strong when they’re around. Strong enough to not be a Noelle.

It’s fuckin fascinating.

There's one thing I really like about the weird route in this chapter
and that is the fact that you have to really commit to it to get there.
Like, it's never an accident to end up on this route, obviously, it's intentionally doing counterintuitive things, pushing too far
but here, like we saw from you accidentally aborting the route more than once
it's not enough to just want to do it
you gotta commit, you gotta focus on pushing through.
It's made explicitly clear that this is what YOU chose

"YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE BODIES IN THE WATER" type shit, terryfing

"Oh, my full name? It's W.D G"Ed"ter"

Ohh yes. The wierd route is not fucking around

Mr Fox is a highly effective storyteller

Edit: The bread appears to be a reference to a famous bug in the game Mother in which a bread item used in just the right way will result in being warped incorrectly to a gray monochrome version of the game's town in which there are no npcs. This may be your fate on the wierd route, to be left alone in a broken version of the world.

Reminder that Noelle also said very similar sentiments in the normal Lake scene but she then conclude that if Susie was there, maybe she doesn't mind staying. And then we have the absolute primed emotional breakdown for Chapter 6, there is a very, very concerning possibility that the weird route just merely skip the progression from Chapter 6 to reach the same conclusion

Another thing I find distressful aside from Noelle's expressions through this whole dialogue, is how Kris is not even directly looking at her for most of it, they're looking downwards, or at least their head is pointing down, like in a sort of disappointment that Noelle had to discover all of the truth herself, which is not what Kris really intended at all to even happen

pretty sure she finally understood her boundaries as an npc thats why we shared our power and saw her as a dot constantly in chapter4. With that power she saw how unreal that place was and thats why she needed us to break free out of its normal route. honestly pretty cool route i loved it

Holy shit, Ive been WAITING for this moment, for someone who understand psychology to play this specific part of the game. Here we are

I wonder if it's so hard for not only Toriel, but for everyone around Kris to notice that there's something wrong going on because the signs monsters usually show when they're going through things are different than the ones humans have.

Very important to keep in mind: tricky Toby used both psychological and meta perspective for this scene.

Noelle watch herself trough glass because of depression...and also because she's in a video game and is starting to gain axareness.

She's feel like being moved trough her life because of her lack of control...and because she's a PNJ.

Wanting to go see the other side of the lake can represent death and the risky unknown...but she also know it's strange nobody ever went here, and is trying to go out of bound.

Also, make sure to look at Noelle dialogue if you say no,  very important psychologically.

Imagine if Kris hears the player all the time and it's a psychologist ruining their life in the worst possible way all while explaining how bad the reaction is and how it can be a problem in others, as if it's just some normal thing everyone goes through.

The video was interesting to watch nonetheless, thanks for your content

As someone who formerly went through severe depression and had multiple suicide attempts -- this was years ago and I'm doing much better now -- I really hated all the mandatory reporter stuff because it's led to me not feeling comfortable discussing certain things with my psychiatrist/psychologist lest they report any of it to the cops.  Getting hauled out of my house and into an asylum would only have made everything even worse.
